: hardly tech: opening rear doors on 96 suburban

my suburban decided it didn't want both doors to open. the primary door opens just fine. but when you pull the latch for the second one, nothing.


is this a common easy to fix thing or am I going to need to bring a trailer to pick up some lumber this afternoon?

Depends how big your hammer is.

Sorry, that's all I have to offer. I do remember it being a bitch to fix when an older sub did the same thing though.

My 95 did that, there is a latch at the top and the bottom of the left door, I popped off the panel at the bottom and released it by hand and tweaked the rods a little til it worked right again.

Is it just the inside handle of both of them. I know the inside handle braking is pretty common. I have replaced a few on that body style truck. I thin they are 20 bucks at the dealer for the inside handle.

It's usually just a broken clip on the latch rod. Once you
get the interior panel off, it's very easy most of the time.
