I have a 98 single cab with a bench seat and I am wondering how easy a seat swap would be.

Basically wondering if the truck has the mounting spots for buckets or a 60/40 seat?

If so, I would assume that similar year truck or four runner seats would make the most sense but what else fits easily?

Thanks in advance

I replaced the bench seat in my 96 std cab taco with a pair of buckets out of a 99 prerunner.

Unbolt bench seat, put buckets in. Secure with 3 bolts each, mark inside rear mount (by trans tunnel).

Drill hole, secure with nut, bolt and lock washer (or crawl under the truck and tack the nut to the body. Done.....

The location for the 4th bolt is dimpled and the area is reinforced from the factory but there is no captured nut welded to the floorpan.

Well worth the effort, the bench in my truck was very uncomfortable.

I had 2001+ Celica seats in my 98, they were super comfortable!

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just look for a good deal on some seats.

Sweet! Did they just bolt right up to the existing brackets or did you take the whole assembly from the Celica and drill/tap new holes?
