Okay, so it's a little early, but I'm awful excited about this event. 1st Annual GUMBO Invitational Pro Mud Drags. Side by Side mud drags with racers coming from a dozen states. SERIOUS heavy-hitters coming in for this one. Several past & current National points champs, class record holders, literally the best of the best. And if that's not enough, we'll have a couple of street classes (one of which still isn't full) with some good-running local machines.
We're also going to do something a little different for this one. Prior to the race, we're going to have a "Pit Party". All of the engines will be shut off by 5:00 p.m., and then the spectators will be welcomed into the infield from 5:30 to 6:30 to check out the race machines, talk to the drivers, get autographs, etc. Especially for those of you with small children, this will be an excellent opportunity to get "up close & personal" with the competition machines & their drivers in a safe & controlled environment.
BUT, that's not all. Our good friends with the Jeep Girls Club - MO Chapter will be hosting a 4x4 Show N Shine contest. Entry in the Show N Shine is open to any 4wd vehicle, and you don't necessarily need chrome & nice paint to take a trophy (saw a guy with a dented-up, exo-cage ride take home trophies from the last Show N Shine). The nice thing about the Washington facility is that the spectators have to go through the Show N Shine area as they come in the admissions gate & again anytime they want concessions. So, it'll be a very high-traffic area & a good opportunity for local clubs to set up a display of their vehicles & get some interest in their clubs. Show N Shine participants need to be on the grounds by 5:00 p.m. to make sure you're all there when the spectators start arriving to check out the Jeeps & trucks.
If you need to know more, you can check out www.gumbo4x4.com or www.smore4x4.com Directions to the fairgrounds can be found on the GUMBO site.
Hope to see y'all there!!
