putting a 2" body lit kit on the 82 k10 tomorrow.
will i have to do anything with the 208 linkage ?
or will it be fine as is ?
everything is bone stock still
ive only ever body lifted 203 trucks and on those nothing needs modified to body lift them
thanks

nope. just have to adjust the linkage underneith... so make sure you unhook that crap before you go lifting the body.

so i have to disconnect the linkage before lifting the cab up?
theres enough stock adjustment to be ok ?
i dont even know how many rods shift the 208's
never messed with them excpet i did remove a 208 from an 85 k5 we junked about 6 years ago
but ive forgotten the linkage since then
thanks

dont forget the steering shaft pin, brake lines to booster(they should uncoil), gas filler tubes, and any electrical that may get stretched

yeah that too. when i did my k5 blazer. it came as just body and frame so didnt have to do anything to it. . its one bar and theres plenty there.
even if there wasnt you can just go to the hardware store and get some threaded rod and extend it

oh ok one rod
good deal
just lengthen it a bit ok
im not worried about the other stuff
i know all that from lifting trucks in the past
ive taken apart or put together bodies of more trucks than most ppl even have touched or driven..
maybe around 300 now since 1994.
but most all 1980 and and older years..
so..
heres a few pics pages:

i have hundreds of pic sof different vehicles ive had apart or cobbled together from other trucks, that ive never uploaded yet and need to some day,,, hmm,.,.
they are easy
i just lengthen the column rod a couple inches with the welder
and disconnect body frame grounds and remove the brake line clamp bolt on the driver frame rail
and remove lower shroud and modify it
no big deal at all, about 20 mins of misc. work other than pulling the 6 cab and rad support mounting bolts and its ready to lift.
just never lifted a 208 one
thats all..
got hung up on a crappy lift kit we finally got the other day
it was 150 bucks and it has no carriage bolts for the bed and papers with it are for dodge trucks.. fail..
so now gotta wait til freaking monday to deal with that....
so now the truck is still stock body height with the new 33" rubbers and wheels on it...
hmm
thanks!

When I put a 3'' body lift on my old chev with a 208 I kept having issues with the case wanting to jump out of 4hi when I would take off fast..... but I also had a 454 and sm465. I think I would just twist it enough to pop it out. I never had that problem before I did the body lift. Yes I adjusted the linkage after the body lift, I think it was just the different angle of the dangle lol.
Oh btw, DON"T put a 208 behind a 454 with a stick if you plan on wheeling hard! Broke 3 cases in like 6 months!

I mounted my shift linkage to the side of the 465 so I hopefully won't have any problems.
