Been having trouble with my 05 Dodge Ram 2500 48re trans. When I tow light or heavy the trans seem to go into limp mode yet it doesn't throw a light indicating a hard code as Chrysler states it would be. It does give me a code, says "Trans fluid pressure low". Techs say they can't fix the problem until they can recreate the error. It happens to me all the time. I've replaced gov shift seleniod, the sensor, and even the valve body. It continues to get stuck in 3rd maybe second. I can't shift it down with the manual selector, I have to pull over and turn vehicle off. That resets it. Help.

Try moving your post over to the Tow Rig section.

If its under warranty run it til you burn the tranny up and then they will have to warranty it......If not, go aftermarket, thats the best solution.....

98k, trouble started at 45k. They have replaced just about everything they can think of (not much). There's been talk of low ohms, high volt spikes, brass fitting decay, you name it. My problem is this DTC clears when I turn off the ignition and it doesn't happen every time every trip. I'm in the tool biz, so today I hook our scan tool up to it, took it for a drive and everything went smooth. Just wish I could record the DTC as it happens so I had more data. Just looking for others that have had something similar...thx

Maybe you would fit better here at Pirate if you read the guidelines to posting in this forum instead of clogging it up with this tow rig bullshit that does not belong here. If you can't follow the rules you get the usual "drink bleach", "go fuck a blender" or my personal favorite "eat a bag of dicks". Which are all well deserved since you ignored the rules sticky and when someone politely pointed you in the right direction, which is a luxury at Pirate to say the least, you blow him off and keep on fucking around. Get the fuck out and come back when you have a question about something dealing with an offroad Dodge based vehicle and not some pavement licking bullshit that is probably the result of your piss poor maintenance or inability to read the goddamn owners manual. Have a nice day and try not to get all butthurt about YOUR mistake. :flipoff2:

I had a somwhat similar problem with my 06' 2500 4x4 auto quad cab. One day out of the blue it wouldn't up shift or down shift and seemed to be locked in 3rd. I turned it off and then back on and it was fine. This only happened once. Afew months down the road i had it in the shop to check on a few other things and asked them to check the tranny due to the problem and it seemed to slip alittle when going from OD to 4th (passing on the freeway). The truck is stock execpt with 2" lift and 35's. I canged fluid at 30k with full syn and did a miniumal amount of towing. They check it and said i needed a full rebuild and it was covered under warrenty (extended, truck has 55K right now). They rebuilt trans, new valve body and new torque converter as well. Drives great but still woundering why it needed full rebuild when i have pertty much babied it for the past 45K. Just letting you my situation and don't worry what these other guys are talking about this is the tow rig section and you have a problem with your tow rig so they can all blow a bag of shit.

Maybe ...YOUR mistake. :flipoff2:

WTF, nothing better to do? Dodge tech is exactly what this is. What's clogging up band-width is keyboard karate experts posting childish attacks in an effort to entertain yourself. Go away man.:flipoff2:

Good input, thanks. I have been running the truck with a full blown scanner hooked up, all pressures and temps look good, too all ohm readings look good. There was a suggestion to replace the shift pressure sensor and pressure gov. This may need to be done again, I did it 30k ago.

As for the internet MMA fighters, it's amazing how bad-ass some guys can be when typing on a keyboard. I haven't any time for it. Either wheel with me, come down to the gym and grapple with me, or simply go away. Thanks again for the 'put.

It's been a while, but I better try it. I wasn't aware they could go bad this soon. Had a couple guys PM me and suggest the same. Thank you.
