I just bought a 181 Buick V6. I thought it was a 231, but after looking up the casting #s it's actually a 181.

Does anybody know if this 181 will bolt up to a TH350 with BOP bellhousing? Can 231 accessories bolt up to it? Is there anything I need to know about this motor??

The casting #s say that it is an 82-84. I looked it up and the only vehicle I find is a Buick Skylark RWD.

I'm wondering if this is going to be more work than it's worth...

My buddy had a Buick Skylark. I twas a total piece of crap..... it's probably better than an AMC 151 though.

I have Built a couple of them and in a low geared vehicle I would put a properly built 231 against anything out there.

If it is actually from a RWD car then it should, but if it is really from a FWD car(231 as the smallest I Could find for the RWD Skylark which was last produced in 79.. In 80 the Skylark was changed to FWD and used a 183 engine in 82 to 84) itmostlikely won't fit..

I worked in Buick Dealership as mechanic in the time period and NEVER heard of a 181. I also think the skylark Switched to FWD around that time frame so you may want to dig deeper into what exactly it is you have
