: New Maxxis Mudzilla LTs are out...
Liberty-4-All 09-19-2002, 03:54 PM They resemble MT Baja Claws and are probably cheaper. They come in 33's and 35's in15s and 16s. www.maxxis.com or for a pic

NE-RokToy 09-19-2002, 04:14 PM look like a good daily driver wheeler tire. Seems like really good tread depth, and aggresive tread for a radial. Also use modern technology to get tougher sidewall compound (much like MT/R) and stay radial. Looks like we have a good replacment for Claws which I was honestly dissapointed with.
66CJdean 09-19-2002, 04:15 PM Looks pretty cool.
Jason R 09-19-2002, 06:19 PM Kinda looks like a ripoff off the claw actually.

Yeah, it is awful damn close but there are other tires with the same basic directional design...Yokohama Geolander MT among them.
Kensoffroad 09-20-2002, 03:23 AM what do they cost though
nobody20 09-20-2002, 05:17 AM What's the durometer reading on them? They gotta be sticky and at least 37" before I'd be interested.
Weezer 09-20-2002, 08:14 AM They look like they might be good enough to put on my hyundai:flipoff2:
1RUSTYRIG 09-20-2002, 08:36 AM I talked to a product rep at Maxxis and he said that the 35's are going to be coming out in a month or two (kind of like ProComp did with their releases). He also said that they are going to be releasing a new line labeled "creepy crawlers" in about 6 months that are going to be 37's and above and have extreme off road design. Sounds promising.

Its about time you offered something of interest around here :flipoff2:
I saw a set of tires I thought were claws today in Roseville on a Contractors lookin truck. But they didnt look right to me....are there any of these in production yet? These looked like maybe 33's.
TNToy 09-20-2002, 10:45 PM Were they radial claws? (Same tread, no side lugs)
Maybe geolandars?
extremetrails.com 09-21-2002, 11:36 AM Why would anyone want a cheap imitation of something that didn't work in the first place? Claws suck...why wouldn't these? I will continue to say they suck without any evidence until they prove that they work...which they won't. On road they will, uh, go down the road..but off-road they will not work....that is my prediction.
extremetrails.com 09-21-2002, 11:38 AM Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to mention. "Mudzilla" is a :rainbow: name!
Whiskerbiscuit 09-22-2002, 04:18 PM I got a set of these tires this past EJS. I have to say they are pretty damn good for being free. I have done Hell's Gate no problem. Just got back from Holy Cross today and they did well in the snow and muck. I have been able to run them @ 8 PSI and have not broken a bead yet. The name Mudzilla comes from there ATV tire. And Super Swamper and Wrangler aren't gay names?

SUPER SWAMPER is not a gay name! And even if it were, the tire that comes with it more than makes up for it...
Liberty-4-All 09-22-2002, 09:51 PM Who gives a :flipoff2: what it is called if it works. Your :rainbow: if you worry about the name.
Liberty-4-All 09-27-2002, 09:59 PM I have the Maxxis Buckshot Mudders on my KJ and they work great...cheap too!

Yep! 4600# Jeep with just the outside 1/3 touching anything. Never had a problem with these unseating though. I have aired down to 14# before with no problems. I was just posting this to give an idea what the MudZillas might do???
RYJAY 09-28-2002, 12:45 PM first off, you drive a KJ and you're calling other people gay?!
:flipoff2:
second, i wouldn't think it'd be loo likely to lose a bead at 18 or 14 psi...
i run 20 psi street pressure...
then you get below 8psi that's when you start worrying about loosing breads.
those tires do look like they flex nicely at 18psi but a simple shot of the tire doens't really give an accurate representation.

>>>First off what I said is that if you worried about the name on the tire you are gay. I "wheel" a KJ by the way.
second, i wouldn't think it'd be loo likely to lose a bead at 18 or 14 psi...
>>>I pushed stock tires off at higher pressure...this Jeep is heavy.

>>>Good for you...sometimes I don't air back up and they are just fine on the road. Infact I get a nice soft ride at 20psi...
then you get below 8psi that's when you start worrying about loosing breads.
>>>You can loose a bead at much higher psi...depends on the circumstances.

>>>They flex even better at lower psi. The whole point of my post was to show a Maxxix at work. I am not here to convince you with a barrage of pics that they flex/wrap nicely.
>>>By the way, what was your contribution to the post...?
TexasBlake 09-28-2002, 03:27 PM Careful Wally..............
I've wheeled with his Libby before. Nothin hardcore like some of ya'll PBBers, but he does take it through some shit compared to 99.99% of the KJ owners. Gotta give him some credit....... just little.......
props
p.s. is that at the Den Wally?
Liberty-4-All 09-28-2002, 04:06 PM Whats up Blake...yeah, the Den at the Creek Rock Wall. Need to visit the Dunes again!!!
schuss 09-28-2002, 07:19 PM maxxis makes nice mtb bike tires, so hopefully they'll do well here too.
Whiskerbiscuit 09-29-2002, 09:05 PM I run my Mudzilla's @ 8PSI no problems @ all. OBA @ the end of the day and they are good to go.
TNToy 09-29-2002, 10:15 PM Anyone got any info on where you can actually buy a set yet? Haven't seen them at the local Gateway stores...
More curious than anything else, really...

Lucky enough to run Hell's Revenge/ Hell's Gate with the guys from Maxxis. For free!! They are 33x13.5's. Alot of independent type places may carry them.
Whiskerbiscuit 09-30-2002, 04:34 PM Some pic's of the Mudzilla's on Holy Cross 9/21/02

Your Jeep is not all that heavy ya know. At some 60's or rockwells and 38's, etc. Then you can talk heavy.

I was referring to the fact that is is 4600# ( that is with the rear seat removed ) on 32's. Heavy to start with. That does include tools, some armor and heavier wheel/tire combo.

How can you call anything :rainbow:??? I just looked at your website  "Extremetrails.com" I hope you have some better rigs than what you show on that site before you go calling anything :rainbow: i think this was my favorite quote "Custom S-Link steering eliminates the bump steer." NIIIIIIIICE!! :flipoff2:
**I have no opinion on these tires, just felt like calling out a newbie because his website URL is misleading
Keith Strong 10-01-2002, 09:34 AM First off...he has a nice site....works well and seems to be set up well.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!! Extreme? You are coming into PBB calling yourself extreme and other people :rainbow: ? Dude....lurk for a while before we actually decide you reflect my Sig :flipoff2: And I think Mudzilla is a cool name :smokin:
Jayrockn7 10-01-2002, 09:05 PM Holy copyright Batman, I hope MT knows about these or Maxxis just might get sued! the sidewall tread is the exact same:eek: if these are cheap I'd put a set on the DD. I like the look of the Claws but for the performance to cost % noboby beats a Super Swamper!
Liberty-4-All 10-01-2002, 09:15 PM http://www.kjjeep.com/images/mudzilla.jpg
Whiskerbiscuit 10-01-2002, 10:04 PM I think Maxxis has addressed the issue about being MT "knockoffs". On my prototypes the side wall extends down alot further than the Claws. Also the "inner" tire pattern is different. One other thing is that the Mudzilla's have a huge rim protector. But one thing they have in common is that they are louder that crap on the road @ highway speeds.

Great Info...
Whiskerbiscuit 11-03-2002, 08:16 PM Guys,
A quick update on these tires. They did really well in our first snow storm out her in Boulder/Denver. They gripped really well. In Boulder we got over a foot of snow and I had no problem at all. Only thing was the LR up front threw me off a little. But no big deal. Thanks.
Pappa Smurf 12-21-2002, 03:47 PM any prices yet

Pappa Smurf 12-22-2002, 04:05 PM Thats gay as hell
crseth 12-24-2002, 05:35 AM I bought some 33x12.5x15 Maxis Mudders for $105 each mounted and balenced.

This could quite possibly be pure rumor but I heard something about this before. I guess Maxxis came out with these tires as a concept before the claws even came out.
