Are there any differences between the Disco2 LT230 and older models like we have (besides the shift interlock and such, and the lack of the difflock linkage)? I may have a source for one and want to make sure I can use the thing if needed.

It is my understanding that 99-2000 DII's have the difflock lever on the case, but the 2001-02 do not as it has been blanked out on the case. If you can get a pic of the case, you will be able to tell for sure.
