Before all you guys freak out and start blaming the greenies, QUIT! It's not the greenies it's the indians. I've run the Coyotes quite a bit and have talked to other people. The Coyotes is closing due to a change of leadership in the Tribal Council and the revenue sharing from Casino gambling. The new generatinon wants Indian land for indians not us. Also, with the influx of gambling money into the area, the Indians don't need our money to help build the necessities such as electricity and water, which alot of people out there don't have.

Yes, I hate to see it closed, just don't blame some one for the closure until you get the whole story.

"Bad news for the wheeling community in Southern California:

This comes from Joe Torres, club President of the San Diego 4 Wheelers
"Well the rumors are true. Los Coyote Indian Reservation is going to close down the last day of May. I spoke with the Indian Counsel Office and they confirmed it. The decision to close down the reservation was made at the councel's last meeting. The greenies convinced the tribe that four wheeling is ruining there land. This one hell of a blow to the sport. The accessible land to four wheeling is shrinking fast around our county. I'm sad to see this place go, it was the first place I wheeled in when I arrived in California."
This was the information I read and that is what pissed me off.http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/Jknuke.gif Also, wasn't there just a clean up run down there just a few months ago where lots of four wheelers got together and clean the trail for nothing???? The Indians claimed that trail dirtyness was part of the reason for the closure, that and the greenies telling them that we were screwing up their land???? Those Indians lured people down there just to clean their land with the intent on closing it down anyways http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/spanka.gif Shame on them and the greenies anyways.

The trail dirtiness wasn't the reason for the closure. The clean up run was done to show the Indians that WE would take care of the trails if thay would leave it open. It was stated at the run that the reason for the closure was do to Casino Revenue Sharing. There was not that much trash on the trail any way.
Were you at the clean up? If not, why not? I had a friend of mine drive all the way from Fresno for it.

I wish that I could make it to every trash run, but I can't, so I do what I can. I ALWAYS leave with MORE than I came with on every trail, every run. You don't want to open that can of worms, we're all supposed to be on the same team here.

We are and I agree with everything you said. All I'm saying is that EVERYONE needs to do their research before blaming a group for trail closures that are not their doing. I don't know where the info that you quoted above came from because from my research it didn't come from the Indians. I just got off the phone with the Indians and the greenies had nothing to do with the closure.

jack, I've wheeled with Jim (cowmooflage) for years now, and he is one of the few people like myself that will stop in the middle of the trail and pick up other peoples crap.

As for not making the cleanup run, I found out about it 2 days before it was happening. Coinceidently, we had a club meeting the next night and I tried my best to get people to go on 13hours notice. It didn't happen. I felt bad, but I was not going to drive my rig 3 hours from home and risk being stranded somewhere along the way by myself.

I have spoke to several people that were on the cleanup run, and a few of them had the same story:
A few weeks before the cleanup, a group of wheelers ran the trail. At a slow going rocky section (I've never run the trail so thats how it was described), a group of Sierra Club members (bumper stickers, shirts and all) took it upon themselves to widen the trail and go around a part their stock vehicles obviously couldn't handle. So it's ok for the SC to blaze trails, but not us. They also had several meetings with the tribal counsel, none of which the OHV community was notified about. We were aware of one or two, but there was a reported 6 meetings. Thats roughly 66% more time the greend had to brainwash the tribal counsel.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I fully feel the green are responsible for this and 95% of all the other closures.

jack, since your one of the few people that I talked to that first hand talked to the Indians, what were their reasons for the closure...just curious

The meetings with the Tribal Council are news to me, as with talking with the Indians they never mentioned that.

Yellowsub: I'm not trying to start a pi$$ing contest either, I'm one of the few that stop and pick up trash along the trail too. I'm just stating facts that I have researched myself. God, I sound like DRM!!

I meant no offense to anyone with my posts, if they are offended then that's just me. I don't like to beat around the bush, I just say what I mean. I've met some of the AxleSnappers at TDS and I know you are a good group.
