Are you saying consumer based spray vs. roll on? Or consumer roll on vs. professional spray (Line-X, Rhino, etc)?

The consumer stuff generally isn't as durable as the pro stuff and the pro stuff is all sprayed to the best of my knowledge. Basically, you get what you pay for.

The rhino-linings roll on is very durable(ive used it on sliders) and goes on thick. The duplicolor spray on is nice for wheel wells and what have you, but I wouldnt reccomend it for the bed, it chips and scratches easily, due to the thin coating.

Professional spray on is nice but $$$.

I wanted Line-X to spray the WTF-J tub, but they quoted $800 and that did not include priming. (I had bare aluminum that required a self-etch primer.)

Since I had to strip it and prime it anyway, I ended up going with a DIY solution called U-Pol Raptor. It was less than $200 including the Schutz gun. (Would have been closer to $100, but I got extra material to do the underside of the hood and the rear wheel wells.)

Couldn't be happier with the outcome. Good looking tough finish that feels good. (The feel part will make sense if you know the rough finish of stuff like Herc or Durabak .) Is it as good as Line-X/Rhino? Doubt it, but it's less than 25% the installed cost.

Good luck.

I sprayed Al's Liner in my cj tub and it looks great. It was easy to apply and it is only ~ $150.00. It also has UV protectant.
