: EB lift options

Hello Ford ppl, a friend of mine is getting a '72 (I think) EB and wants to run 33's. From searching here I told him to go with WH Rock Crawler Coils, drop TB mount, drop pitman arm, and new bushings. The question I have is what other options does he have for rear springs other than new spring pack's or AAL's? Will stock springs from a F-somthing give about 3.5" of lift, flex well, and provide a good street ride? Normally, I wouldent care about street manners but this will be a 50/50 use Bronc at best.
Also, is it necessary to relocate the shocks at such a low lift? I would think that with a hoop the limit would be the springs or arms not the shocks.

Amazing as it sounds the stock rear Bronco leaves flex pretty well. Use a lift block to match the front and have fun.

Is there somthing about EB leafs which keep the lift blocks from giving the axle more leverage aganst the spring; causing axle wrap and killing the springs.

I put in some used National Springs that i rebuilt with new teflon pads and a rattle can paint job and they turned out really nice, but i removed to many leaves and now the sag sits an inch lower, and thats with a 1 inch block added. I also have quite a bit of axle wrap now compared to the crappy KBarS springs that didnt wrap up at all they were so stiff.

No.
I'll explain more. Like all springs in general, and especially with lift blocks, your going to need something to help with axle wrap. The best way would be to get a set of properly lifted rear springs and not use blocks, but from the way you asked the questions it sounded like your buddy didn't want to spend the money.
The stock Bronco rear leaf flexes very well, it droops and stuff's as good or better than a lot of custom springs but it just doesn't have much lift.

As far as shock, use the stock ones with an inboard mount.

wild horses has the most kick ass rear springs for ebs just fork it out and make it right and save lots of problems trust me i went the other routes and you will get axle wrap something fierce from lift blocks

Ask me about WH leaf springs. If you want sagging springs and SEVERE axlewrap then those are the ones for you.

Ok, what I want to know is if there are any stock truck springs which are the correct length to lift an EB ~3.5". Wouldent a WH full length AAL be better than lift blocks? Eventually full replacements will come but since they cost the same as all of the other stuff together not getting them is an easy way to save money.

Some of WH springs are great. I have a 4.5" on mine that he got from "a new vendor they were trying out" that has worked great. It sagged about 1" in the first 6 months and now has been the same for the last three years. Axle wrap is what would be expected from a spring with its lift/flex attributes. My dad got what was supposed to be THE SAME spring about a year after I got mine and they sucked. Lost 2" in the first year and kept going down. Axle wrap was ugly. According to Jim, they were the same spring. My dad is much easyer on his rig than I am, so??? WH seems to have consistancy issues with their springs. Hit or miss.
He now has BC Broncos springs all the way around and they are awesome.

Mcstiff-to save $$, I'd run a block and home fab a bar on top of the diff to controll the wrap.

I just bought the WH 5.5" springs front and rear for my EB. The front coils only gave me about 4.5" of lift. I have no weight on the front either. Just a 302 and the stock chrome bumper. Hate to see how far down they would sag when I put a real bumper on there with a winch. Needless to say they are coming out this weekend to be returned Monday for a full refund. I will be calling BC Broncos also on monday and be put on their backorder list for the 5.5" coils there. I guess I will see if the WH rear leafs hold up. Suppose its just hit and miss with them. I am really unhappy with their springs so far.

My front WH coils (5") I am happy with but my friend wants my sacked out rear 5.5" leafs to put on his bronco that has a 3.5" lift. Yes, the 5.5's sagged that much. Benifit for my friend is he gets them for free because they aint worth shit and I won't try to sell them as 5.5 springs because they're not.

Go BC bronco front springs and they also sell National Leafs for the rear... I have the BC fronts and they ride smooth with my rancho 9000s and dont sag.
