I'm in the market for a code reader/engine diagnostics reader. I'd prefer one that I could hook to a laptop vice a palm or a standalone unit.

You have two choices.

The simple hand helds you can get from shucks/kragens. They work, I have one, cost me around $150. Has a display to show sensor information, etc. (more than just reading back code numbers.

After that, the units all seem to start at 750-1000 and go on up to at least 5,000.

Aint no Kragen or Shucks on base in the UK ;) I've seen this website, never used the product
