I have a 1985 ford f-150 automatic 2wd 300 straight 6 thats in great shape. I just trashed my tranny. Ive been wanting a 4speed 4wd,so i bought one.Same yr motor except of course tranny and 4wd. Is it possible to take the transmission and 4wd out and bolt it to my 2wd frame and motor.Is the 85 frame the same 2wd and 4wd?It all looks the same.I was gonna put my body on the 4wd frame and drop my motor in it cause mine in the 2wd is better but my chassis in my 2wd is like new and dont want to loose it.SO is the drive train and everything going to fit. Aready have time in this would like to know asap. THANK YOU very much for any Help

The frame is identical. the only thing different is the width of the rear springs, 2wd are 2.5", 4wd is 3". You can swap over the brackets and all from the 4wd, or just get lift springs for a 2wd if you do lift it.
Take the transmission and it's crossmember, it will all bolt in, the front end is the same, the TTB uses all the same mounting points as the 2wd TIB front end.
I've swapped a few of these trucks both ways, it's a very straightforward swap.

Will it work to pull the TTB out of an f150 and put it under a two wheel drive f250?

Not recommended unless it's a Lighty Duty F250 or you'll kill the 1/2 D44 TTB. I think you can do it however as I believe that the 4x2's use the same axle arms as 4x2 F150's IIRC.

Yep, the F150 44 TTB will bolt into any 2wd 80-96/7 F-Truck chassis. You just get stuck using single piston calipers and smaller rotors. The wheel bearings and ball joints are the same as the 44HD TTB, so there's no real stregnth difference, just brakes.
