I have a 91 Bronco and I can't seem to get the transfercase to engage? I have pulled the motor off of the transfercase and the transfercase will go into gear manually and works fine. I have tested all the wires and none are getting a signal from the control module under the pass. side kick panel. I have run the self test on the controll module and it checks out fine so why am I not getting power to the motor on the bottom? Any help?????? Borge Warner 1356.

To go ahead and get this out of the way
DO WHAT?!?!?!
So you have a 91 bronco with 4wd?
How did you pull the motor off of the transfer case?
So figuring you have the case out of the truck it is shifting fine and the input and both outputs are turning at proper speed?
When did the trans case get a control module and when was it put under the pass. side?
Your not getting power to what motor?
Not trying to be rude but that is just flat confusing.

that electric system is not real reliable. a lot of guys opt to get a manual case back half and linkage. 2nd best idea i can come up with for you is to find a junkyard truck and pick up as much of it;s electric t-case system as you can. then swap parts and figure out what the output differences are.

So you have a 91 bronco with 4wd? All Broncos were 4wd....
How did you pull the motor off of the transfer case? He probably loosened the bolts that hold the shifter motor to the case
So figuring you have the case out of the truck it is shifting fine and the input and both outputs are turning at proper speed? That's what he said.....
When did the trans case get a control module and when was it put under the pass. side? how else would a PUSH BUTTON transfer case engage besides an electric motor. I guess vacuum would work, but all of these cases had an electronic shifter control
Your not getting power to what motor? what other motor would he be talking about?

To the OP, like was mentioned, the electronic modules on the cases are very unreliable. before you sink another second into that case, try to find a manual shift 1356. Any 1356 from any ford truck will bolt right in. You could spend a lot of time cleaning up the motor and get it working again, but it won't be the last of your problems

99% of broncos were 4wd. I did not know that a 91 bronco came with a electric shift transfer case. Thought they started that around 95.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a Silver Anniversary addition so everything is electric. I cleaned the motor on the transfercase and got 4 high to start working properly but still no low range? I read in an old service manual that there is a certain order in which you have to engage the transfercase so I'm going to try that now. I have located a NP208 if all else fails but I would like to leave it factory. If there is something I'm over looking please help. Thanks

2nd, you NEED to be in neutral. I just got done diagnosing a Bronco t-case problem too.

The one i was working on was toast though (teeth missing, lots of carnage). Girl ran it a 50 mph and the fawker she bought it from sold it to her with NO fluid at all in it.
