Simple question. I have a 1993 SOHC 3.2 Trooper. and then im in 3rd and 4rd above 2200 RPM i get a "US" Light on my dash. Does any one know what this light is? It runs fun (except for the lifter tick)

That is your "Upshift" nanny...ignore as you see fit. It is primarily intended to maximize gas mileage.

I have been tempted to cover mine with tape or pull the bulb, but there have been a few times when it reminded me to shift when I had the stereo up loud or something...

See thats odd cuz i only get it in third and fourth and if i put my foot to the floor i can get it to go away.

Yes if you are accelerating hard it will not come on, assuming you need the power.

I don't recall if mine works in the lower gears, I'll have to check next time. I think it does. I do know it works in low range too.

I'm sure it would come on in the lower gears if you are maintaining a speed that was using 1st or 2nd. It generally comes on when you are no longer accelerating ( or are accelerating and staying in the same gear into the higher RPM's) I notice it most in the 3rd/4th gear range because that is where a good majority of city driving is...and you are giving it enough gas to keep with the flow of traffic, but aren't accelerating.

if you want to verify, try to maintain 20mphs...in 2nd gear and I'm guessing you'll see it flash.

Nope doesn't happen in any other gear but 3rd and 4th. I have kept it at 15 in 2nd around 2200 Rpm and the light never comes on. But it just seems like its the upshift light so there is nothing to worry about. Thanks for all the help
