Remember the letters we all wrote to the Senate about Klinton's Roadless Rule??? Well, I got a letter back finally.....
From Ron Wyden, saying that he agrees with us and that they will be working closely with the Bush administration to reverse it. And an careful words, that he thought it was a mistake and things like that need to carefully considered.
Yea! <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I got one too! It came in about a week ago. My Representative said he was against the roadless policy, and that he thinks local government should rule on cases concerning public lands.
I would post it, but every time I upload an image, all I get is a box with an X in it. If someone will help me figure out what I'm doing wrong I will try to post the letter.

Dear Ms. Templin,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me regarding the "roadless policy" - finalized this January - which affects nearly 60 million acres of National Forest System land. I found your comments informative, and I welcome this opportunity to respond to your concerns.
Like you, I remain unconvinced that this sewwping mandate, imposed my President Clinton, will best meet the current needs of public forests. Nor is this policy consistent with the primary purpose of federal land management: to provide the public with equitable access to utilize and enjoy it's own lands, held in trust by the federal government. I will be working closely with the Bush Administration to ensure that the administrative regulations related to federally owned forests and other resources are thoroughly reviewed and, if necessary, properly remedied.
One of the fundamental truths I have learned during my service as a U.S. Senator for Oregon is that federal land management decisions must not be made hastily or without proper input from those who know the land the best. With over half of our state's lands managed by one federal agency or another, I feel it is critical that local communities and interested stakeholders - not special interest groups - have a greater voice in this process. Please rest assured that I will continue working toward this goal as forest and land management issues are considered in the Senate.
Once again, thank you for contacting me regarding your views on forest management. I appreciate the time you took to contact me, and I hope to hear from you again in the future.
Warm regards,
Gordon H. Smith

and he signed it too!!
One other thing I noticed is that at the top of his stationery, is listed the committees that he is on:
budget
commerce
energy and natural resources
foreign relations
hmmmmm.....
I feel so important now! Did I vote for this guy? I will next time anyway!

I would have been shocked if Wyden had signed it.
