What Isuzu did you get that from? I'm pretty up on their products and dont recognize that engine.

Isn't the 1.8 the one in the geo storm or is that the Mitsu motor:confused:

Donor was a 79 Chevy Luv. I was told it was aluminum block. Seemed really light as I dropped it in. Barely squatted the Sami rear springs up front (now CJ fronts). Perhaps I was told wrong.

It took quite a bit of work to get the Luv motor with it's auto tranny to fit Pix of the project (3 albums) start here. (http://community.webshots.com/album/28916618JsHrfFZvsX) Prop shaft is as short as I could get it and still had to back the t-case up about 6 in. This led to scooting the rear axle back, which led to stretching the frame 7 in., which led to scooting the axle back a tad bit more to make room for a stock front driveshaft, which led to a coil suspension. On it's maiden voyage all I could say was "WOW!" when I realized how well the flex was working. A buddy called it a slinky after watching me cross some deep ruts and I finally had a name for her that I liked. The auto tranny is sweet when I'm crawling the rocks, and it's easy on the drivetrain. The carburetor sux on steep hills, but I have all the pieces gathered up for throttle body injection...just have to stop wheeling long enough to get it worked out.

Awe shucks. You're too far from me or I'd take it off your hands in case I decide I want to go back to a manual transmission. There's a high probability I'm coming out to the Rubicon next summer. That any where near you?

So I'm not the only one with projects that seem so simple and fast at first, then turn out to take forever (to get it right)?:p

yeah, you aren't the only one. i actually have two projects going at once. i've been using the luv in its current state for quite some time. the toyota sas has worked great. but the 1.8 doesn't cut it for something that weighs as much as a yota. so i've got a collection of parts waiting to go in.

Two at once. Tell me about it.

I broke Slinky last weekend (busted upper control arm mount at the diff). I don't think the fix is going to be too difficult (and I'll make it stronger this time), but my girlfriend and I are in the middle of putting a 12k mile Swift motor into her 88.5 hardtop (slow going due to lack of spare time). Then there's my tow rig (99 Ram 4WD) that used to be trail rig. I want to pull the 5" Skyjacker lift off of it and replace the 3.54 gears with 4.10, all to make it a better tow rig. Oh yeah, I landed a 32' travel trailer for cheap to convert into a two-rig trailer (needs too much work to make it a reliable camping platform again).

So many projects, so little time (and money).

hell if i don't have at least 8 projects going at one time i am bored. maybe thats why i never really finish anything? as my zuk sets in the drive way with no axles under it[have a set of cruiser axles out back], just need to get them in. my cruiser has one rockwell in the rear and needs the rockwell put in the front. and the buggy needs the wiring and brakes put on it. and 10 thousand honey do's to do around the house. mike
