So during my build I did something stupid. I pulled the shifter box from my Rubicon 6 speed to ease body fitment. I figured a rag/towel over my open transmission would suffice. NOPE!!! I can see a bit of sand got in when I removed the rag then I taped up the hole so nothing else got in.
I see what looks like a drain plug in the bottom. I was planning on using something like Karosene to flush it because its oil based, much liter than trans fluid and shouldnt hurt the seals, but IDK???
Any ideas?
BTW, what is the proper fluid to fill this thing with when I get it flushed and how much of it? I have a book but it doesnt cover the 6 speed.

Fuck you 44 people that read my post and cant help me :flipoff2:
Really though... I need help!
Called the stealership and they want to analy rape me for $5o for 2 qts of trans fluid. Is this shit gold? What else can I use?
Also decided on using Karoseen to flush it. Should work out OK. Anybody see any issues with that?

kerosene would not hurt it, but you can run it in neutral drain it and be good if you didn't get that much sand/dirt in it. The 6 speed is garbage from what I read but Google is your friend. Don't forget to refill with aproved lube.
Nobody replied because they are not allowed to flame you here.:flipoff2:

Why not just flush it with cheap, thin oil, perhaps with a mild kero mix.
I think straight kero may not be your best bet.
Anything you do, I'd change the fluid a few times in the next few hundred miles. Also, do some research and see what cheapo oil you can use, the $50 stuff is a joke.

Those things are kind of expensive right? I think if there was very much grit in there, I'd remove the trans and flush it upside down. Cap the shifter housing with something and fill it from the drain plug until full and then uncap the shifter and let it fly. It is a better idea to send it out the same hole it went in rather than flush it down into the trans and through every other moving part. If any of that stays in there, you risk fragging your trans in a short period of time. Since the weekend is over, you most likely already did your flush. Good luck, and yes you should use the correct expensive fluid.

shit I flushed mine with about 3 gallons of gasoline. The consistency of a Wendys frosty came out :laughing:. Mud/water/gear lube sitting for 6 months make a weird smell.

I might deserve to be flamed for letting sand get in but who cares, I made the mistake, its done now I need to deal with it. Thanks those that replied. I have searched and didnt come up with much. Google isnt always your friend.
Flushing it today. It hasnt moved an inch in 2 years, not running or in gear anyway. I'll vacuum what I can out the top then flush through the bottom. Its not alot of sand, just a but.....I know all it will take is one piece to ruin a seal or bearing, so maybe I will pull the trans. Will be doing this today or tomorrow.
Thanks guys for responding.
