can a p38 diff bolt to a d2 housing? If i redrill and tap new holes? there is alot of descrepincy between them and no real clear answer other than the p38 is beefier.... same shaft spline and diameter....

I wish they were the same...

Wolf defender uses the same p38 diff, so i figure it is stronger....

Marginally, its still not a Sal.

the Military went to the wolfe axle not because the P38 diff was stronger but the axle housing could be strengthened to take a higher GVW, the tubes were coming out of the cast housing on the salisbury,

The P38 4 pin diff centre is better than the 2 pin disco type but the ring and pinion are weaker as the P38 pinion is shorter, ie bigger load on the pinion bearings,

But Sals are junk too because the halfshafts aren't strong enough-or says conventional wisdom.

Oh there you go...

Daves right the Banjo housing can be built stronger, but now the halfshafts and CW&P start to fail on the heavier versions.

So toy is still the way to go... I still want to be on the list to be informed when you can sell me a set of 30 spline inner axles for my D2....

same here....lockers, rear axles, and gears are literally my next purchase...

..conventional wisdom.

Like that's gonna slow this bunch down ;)

I've seen two '99 DII diffs, both were single pin, like a DI. Were '99 DII's all single pin??

(Extremely doubtful that these DII diffs were swapped for DI before I saw them)
