: Axle Table

Okay, a request came up in the Heep forum about inner and outer shaft length's, blah, blah, blah and I decided to bring it here for the best exposure. I was thinking of making a page and maybe a database that listed the different axles and their specs on the different vehicles they came on. This is what I've got so far.

I'd like to get feedback as to the layout and if there is not enough or too much information. If you have something similiar, regardless of how much or little info you have, please let me know so I don't duplicate effort.

its a nice start, but two things pop into mind...

1) describe HOW you are measuring, I *ASSume* from center of u-joint to end of shaft.... but you never know, I usually measure from end to the casting "flare" at the yoke end at home.... just cause its easier than estimating the u-joint center, and its only form comparison sake.

2) WARN has a simular page, may be a good place to steal some data points.... probem with that chart, it leavs off ALLOT of shafts.... IH pick-ups, Dodges.. Both of wich have nice length D44 shafts for swapping....

food for thought.

Thanks,

1. There does need to be a basis for measurement. I would say that shafts should be joint center to shaft end and tubes should be from the edge of the C and the diff, like right at the edges.

2. That WARN page has been mentioned as a resource. I will be gleaning stuff from it this weekend.

My god, man! You have no idea the amount of information that you are wanting to post! If you have the time/patience to do it, I have the official Dana measurements for every front and rear axle from 1978 - 2000. Just to let you know, there's a little over 240 different FRONT shafts, all with different lengths, yokes, splines, and diameters. And that's just front. There's probably 8 times that in rear axles. I have the part numbers, bill of materials, and everything for all of them. Go to my web site and look at the catalog there and that is how many axles you would have to cross reference. (Over 1000 of them.) Your idea is a good idea, I'm just saying that you're going to have to narrow it down to just popular axle or something somehow.

I thought somebody had a ton of info, just couldn't remember who. I am going to keep it fairly narrow. I'm not going to do anything smaller than a 44 (what's the point?!). Right now I'll start off with 44's and 60's front and rear. For front's I'll stick to open knuckles. Looking at your list it shows stuff like corvette. I don't think I'll list that, I mean if it's a 44, it's a 44, but who would want to tear up a nice corvette for their trial rig? Then depending on demand, and time, I might slowly add other stuff too.

How could I get a copy of that Dana/Spicer info Patooyee? Got it on CD or could you burn it to one? Small enough to put up on your site for me to get to? PM me so we could work out the details.

Thanks all!

The Patooyee site is down! How can I look up some stuff? Are there other sources out there?

Hey Savage, nice job! Do you have a similar list for Dana 60's?
I just wish the Patooyee site was up. I need to look up something.
Thanx!

Sorry about the site being down, ya'll! I get such a good deal on hosting for such a large site that I can't really complain that much. It should be up soon, so I'm told.
