I have a 94 Disco that has a standard transmission. I have found a 98 Disco that has an automatic tranny that I can purchase for $90. My question is, are the 98's a computerized tranny/ what all would be entailed in swapping these two? More trouble than it's worth? Just looking for opinions, I know there are plenty of them out here. :flipoff2:

Not only are they completely mechanical and interchageable, but I will buy the pedal assembly, master and slave cylinder, and any other parts you want to be rid of AND, I'll swap you a pedal assembly for an autobox. I also probably have the little bits you'll need to complete the swap. Hint, make sure you get EVERYTHING for the autobox from the crankshaft to the governor housing or you may have some issues when you try to mate them up. BTDT. had to run to my storage barn for the rest of the parts.

If you are going wheel it and you have big tyres on it kep in mind that the 1st gear in an auto is taller than the 1st in a manual. If you have already changed the diff gears then its not an issue.

The motor is already out of this disco. If I decide to attack this, I will def be calling you. We can swap some parts for sure.

Very good. I can provide assistance as necessary. That said, make damned sure you get everything off the crankshaft so you can be certain of having all the fiddly bits you'll need. If this is coming out of a boneyard, sometimes the crank bits are gone-I might have the parts you need here as well. There were some minor changes during the years and you'll want to match them all together. The crankshaft won't be an issue, but the bits that go between the trans and the torque converter are pretty critical.

Lemme know what you need and what you don't. I'll be putting a 300 into a '92 RRC and converting to manual at the same time, we will be able to help each other out!

Cheers,
