what gears would i find in the front fulltime d44 on a 78 1/2 ton powerwagon w/318, auto and of course, the fulltime transfer case.
these are standard cut gears, nothing special right?

If you don't want to buy new look for a 3/4 ton they usually have 4.10's and a few had 4.56's

what would be the outward giveaways of 4.56's? I've had VERY good luck reusing OEM gears. i don't think the aftermarket gears come close (and ya can't beat the price, can get the whole axle minus the shafts and brake hardware for $40-$50)
4.56 is what i'm looking for. but even if i don't find them, i still need a carrier, and used ones are cheaper. Still have to get new gears for the D30 though.

The only way to tell for sure woth out pulling the cover is if the tag is still there(unless someone switched gears or some unscrupelous(sp) seller switched tags..
