I picked up a 96 Ram 2500 the 1st of the year to drive around. I found this truck on craigslist for 3300.00 bucks. The truck had the camper windows broken and had a few bings dents and a dented tail gate. I made a offer and took it home for alot less then them. The day of the pick up it snowed and froze (the first time in awhile in CA). The radiator got a small pin hole leak in it and on the way home a truck I was following rack threw a bolt and split my window. So I put a new front windshield in it and new radiator right away. I sold off the front bumper, and new 33" BFG ATs with wheels off it. I ended up with paying less the 2,000 for the truck. As of today it has 90,040 miles on it. I got it with 86,000 miles on it. Its a V8 gas 5.9L ext cab long bed. D60 front and back. My current plans are leveling kit up front. 1" long then stock control arms, and 5.38 gears. I have H2 wheels recentered on it right now. Im thinking about the 38" MTRS new style that came out. My truck has been wheeled a little recently and gotten all scratched up. Also has been hit and run a few times in the parking lot at school. I do ALOT of hunting and shooting in the mountins by my house. I got to practice for all the compitions I goto and the range isnt long enough for my needs to I gotta build a capable DD rig till my Crew Cab is done. Truck allready has flowmaster exhaust.
Current Plans-
Level kit 3" total lift
1" longer Control Arms
D70 Rear
5.38 gears
38" MTRs
Different usefull front bumper
Rock sliders
Rack for the top to hold my spare and lights all the way around
Need some kind of chip dunno what one.
Future plans once my cummins powered crew cab is done-
5" lift with coil overs
4 link the back
Shorten wheel base major
42" MTRS
Exo Cage
Build a truggy basically, with a small flat bed.

Next Steps:
Front Axel:
EMS CAD delete 35 spline axels
EMS Hud kit 35 spline
New ball joints while its apart
Locker of some sort or spool
Rear:
Keep the 60 till I blow it
Gears and Lincoln Locker
Throwing 37" BFG muds on it till I get coin for 38" MTRS.
Inside cage with my Beard seats. The ram seats are going into the cummins powered crew cab tow rig.

Did you buy all that crap for the front axle yet? Honestly you would be better off finding a Ford 60 and building it.

No havent bought anything. I get gears done by my buddies dad. I want to do the 35 spline conversion on any axel I get. So I would be out at min 500 for the ford 60. Gotta go threw it all and everything still. I was just gona run the ball joint 60 because changeing them doesnt bother me.
Heres it with 39.5s just to mess around. Threw my 37" BFG muds on it. Looks much better.

You could run a early 90's BJ 60, not as expensive as the HP KP60.

Ditto on above. I'm working on a 96 2500 and recently picked up a balljoint Ford HPDana 60 for $550. Keep your eyes open for deals- most guys want the Kingpin Ford axles. The Dodge coil buckets don't fit well with the Kingpin version- balljoint is better for the swap. Fords already come with locking hubs and 35 spline inner shafts- not to mention the strength of high pinion gears in the front.

Plus you actually have OPTIONS (lockers/shafts) and STRENGTH stock!
You can use the Ballistic weld on coil buckets and the link mount spans are almost the same distance as the stock Dodge units but they are pure beef.
