hello, this is my first post here so again hello. i figured i'd start off by askin a question that i can't seem to find an answer too even with google. here goes i have a 32/36 dfav does anyone know if you can use this carb on a 258? i can't find an adapter plate that says it will mate this carb to the 258 intake. i'm not familiar at all with webers so i have no clue. thanks for the help in advanced.

Yes. Had one on my '87 back when it still had the 4.2. Good carb. Much better than the stock Carter junk anyhow. A lot of people like the Motorcraft 2100 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131514) better for rock crawling tho.
You just need the adaptor plates (there are two)/gaskets/hardware and maybe the throttle linkage. You can see them in this photo:
