Order the early 1974 transitional gear and bearing, been there done that, cost me around $180 ten years ago, not worth the marginally lower low gear IMHO.......

I'm not trying to sell my parts by answering this post, but yes I do have the parts you need.
but before you spend any money!
Is your tranny already attached to a t-case?
if so, are you sure the t-case is a 4 speed case.
I have purchased several early production 75's(drum front brakes)
and they have all had the transition gear in them with a 3 speed case.
Rule of thumb is 1974's have the transition gear you require.
I have also purchased several late 70's FJ45's with the 4 speed/ early case combo in them, however these had all been owned by lots of PO's so I don't have any accurate history on them so they most likely had been changed over during the past 25 years.

ps $180 still seems to be the going price

The early t-case change only nets you a 16% drop in low range...1.99 down to 2.313. IMO, for the price, it's not worth it. I ran one for a short time and then sold it along with the tranny with I did my SM465 swap.

Granted, if you gave me a 16% raise in pay, I'd be happy for a year or two. But you'll want it again...may as well put that $180 or so into a tranny swap - either SM420 or SM465.

Or do some hunting and see if you can locate someone with a junked 74' case and good gears...I sold a set that way once...oops...
