: MAF 4+ rear carrier

Anyone running the 4+ carrier/rack for their FJ40 from MAF? If so, which one: the "Hi-Clearance" version or the one with the cooler rack? How do ya like it? Is it really as strong as advertised? I currently have the rack and carrier from Wardens and want to get the weight of my spare (37" MT/R) and cooler off the tub.

Any suggestions for other products? I don't care for the Bulletproof unit since the tail lights need to be relocated to the tub (aka Jeep style).

Not really wanting to find a fabricator and start from scratch - why re-invent the wheel?

Opinions and comments appreciated.

TIA

Bruce,
Sloan on the board has it. (the cooler rack one). Also check here (http://www.off-road.com/tlc/reviews/mafrearbumper/mafrearbumper.html). HTH

I've jacked up my 40 on the cooler rack, also seen one keep a rig from looping over, very stout

Isn't that 4+ rear bumper made by renegade fabrication?

yup ,used to live down the road from the guy, but he has since moved out of phx. to a smaller nearby town.

Bruce,

Another option is to get the bumper from Luke Porter of 4x4labs.com. Originally I wanted the 4+ rear bumper too but Luke made one that I am very happy with:

How was that price wise comapred to MAF 4+, and how large of a tire can it hold?

Thanks,

It was quite a bit more expensive than MAF+, the price could have been changed so please check with Luke for current pricing. I have it setup for 35" since I don't think will go larger then that.

Thanks, I'm gonna try to work with my local fabricator and see if he can do similar to a MAF 4+ for about the same or less than MAF is charging, but he isn't confident about that. Thanks!!
