Newbie here. I found a good artical on this website about the balancing differences for the swap but I still have some questions.

The thread I read was http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9457216

Anyways, I purchased a 95 5.9l magnum to put into my 85 w350. after reading the artical I was under the impression that all I would have to do was remove the weight from my TC and use the flexplate that is on the motor now. But after looking it over, it has no weights. I verified that it was in fact a 5.9 and I called the guy bought it from (a small time junkyard only for dodge magnums) and had him look at the converter and that is where the weight is.

After reading the above mention thread I thought that they were weighted on the flexplate. The guy has another flexplate from a 5.9 that has the weights on it.

So my questions are...Will the flexplate that he has off a 5.9 with the weight work with my converter (weight ground off)??

And did someone change something on this truck or did the earlier magnums have the weight on the converter?? if so when did they change to flexplate weights??

Do all 5.9 magnums require the same weight to balance, regardless of year??

Also, I looked up replacement flexplates on autozones website, and they list the same PN for all magnums 5.9's and 5.2's, so i'd assume they dont have the weights on them.

Thanks for the help

Not sure if this will help but I would HIGHLY recommend RamchargerCentral (http://www.ramchargercentral.com/) for Dodge information.

Check out this swap:
