how much can I notch the frame to lower the seats? Chassis bottom tube is 3/4" below top of frame. Im hoping I dont have to cut the chassis off the frame:eek:

I don't know how much is "legal"....

I recall reading that you must leave at least one face of the frame--so you couldn't notch deeper than the frame and have a complete subframe below it?

You must be fairly short to have the bottom tube 3/4" below top of frame!! (but I'm 6'-6", and everything is usually too low for me!)

Im 5-11, it sits to low for me thats why sinking seat lower. Im more concerned about frame breaking in half. Its chassis 501, I bought it that way. who ever welded it on must be short, the seat brakets was about 2.5" above frame before I cut them off. Im trying to work around it, its going to be alot of work to cut it off and raise the chassis up.

You can notch it as much as you want. You should be able to get away with notching it an inch or 2 though. The first F-Toy Hendrix built (the orange one)was the same way. He is 6' 6" and fit in it just fine without notching the frame at all.

well went back and looked at treads again, ill try leaning the seat back more. How I understand it, I need 3" away from any tube with a helment on. am I right?

Correct. You dont need to lean closer to the tubes either. FWIW, we are cut in 2.5", leaving 1.75 or 2" of rail I think. I know its more than 1/2 way. The chassis to the frame is skid plated, as the seat protruded out, that put back in the structure, along with more tubing to mount the chassis.

As yes, you must leave one side of the frame, any side. So you can cut to an 1/8" shy of through!

Must have had a fairly shallow seat pan?

Whiten, leaning your seat makes an enormous difference. Check out about ~p. 5 of my build thread. I notched about 2", leaving about 2.5" of frame rail. My chassis is 1.5" above the top of the framerail.

I know Mike fit in that one, but I want to see with a helmet on in it. I know that was was built with top of the frame rail inline with center of the lower chassis tube.

Thats where my chassis is welded to frame.

my seats are new to, may make me sit an inch taller till broke in?

I was leaning over so I may have enough room, I get a pic tomorrow.
