I read Nutter's article on combining a D18 and Bronc D20 for 2.46 low in a Jeep d20.
My problem is the opposite - I have a line on a Bronc D20, but no D18.
Can I just swap the whole geartrain into the Jeep D20? Will my spare Jeep D20 outputs still work?
Do I need to make sure it is a J or T shift EB D20, or is any 2.46 low EB D20 ok?
Thanks
Charly

The shifters are just the external shifters, the internals are the same.
I have always heard that the T-Shift 20s are the 2.46 ones and the J-Shifts are the 2.34s.
I have a T-Shift 20 for sale. :D

yup Bill you can but you have to have to have all of the bronco guts. and you may have to grind your case some

Charly,
well, the deal is supposed to go something like this: Chad swaps Brett 2 T-cases and m'bee some other junk for the front D60...which means Brett will want the guts of the D60 and I have the shafts, carrier, and 4.56 gears so I give them back to Chad and Chad gives me a 2.46 Bronc D20 in return. At least that's how I *think* it's supposed to work!
ItsaCJ6 - any idea on the tail shafts / housings. It'ss be a shame to go from 2 spares to zero :(

I've started down this path, but just haven't finished the swap.
Should be the same as the Dana 18 swap, except you have to cut and splice the top-half of the Bronco shift-fork to the bottom half of the Scout/Jeep shift-fork, to adapt to the Scout/Jeep shift-rail.
Otherwise, it should be just like a Dana 18 gear swap, except you only need 2 cases, not 3.
I had a write-up about this conversion that got me to thinking about it.
