Power steering pumps which is best? [Archive]

I scored a PS box this weekend for cheap, I can also get the jeep pump, but I have heard that the GM ones are Much better, anyone have a sugestion which is best

Jeep and GM used the same pump for many years. it's ony been since the Wrangler that they switched to a metric style pump.
This new metric pump puts out more pressure but in Jeeps case less flow.
If the pump that you can get is off an older CJ or Chevy pickup then it's a Saginaw pump and is a "Ham Can" style pump then they are basicly the same pump. Some are detuned for there specific application but again they are the same pump.
If you already have the resivior and just need a pump to put in it then get one out of a 1ton with hydro-boost brakes. it will have better pressure and flow.
