On many forums, blogs, websites etc. there is plenty of OMFG-SHTF-TEOTWOOKIE-FML-HOLYFAWKINGZOMBIESHIT talk. Usually included is a fatass in deuce gear/flak and or kevlar with a EBR covered in larue stuff, no less than six knives and four cases of MREs. Personally, I think many of these guys are off their rocker...

But in all seriousness, what are you guys preparing for? Natural disaster (katrina-like)? Riots due to political unrest? Military coup? IMO, it just seems like many of these wackers* throw the term 'SHTF' around too loosely with no concrete goal, plan or objective in mind.

So what does SHTF mean to you?

*wacker is a a term of endearment. I have firearms in the double digits, ammo well into the quadruple digits and a few cases of MRE's. I'd just like to hear some opinions :flipoff2:

Meh just day to day life for me. I don't really need to prepare, old style living is pretty inherent to it. But more than anything, my worry is an economic collapse.

Economic collapse is high up there. Natural diasters dont effect colorado much.... either get too much snow or you get too little and have a drought. Theres alot of people out there with what i consider un-necisarry jobs. These are jobs that if the US econimy falls apart are the first ones to be sacrificed.... like the department stores, the restaurants, home construction jobs (but they can roll into civil construction with a bit of training), car washes, gardners, handymen, IT folks (we lived just fine for hundreds of years without computers and internet... we can do it again), and the list goes on an on. My biggest worry is what are those people who have lost their income and ability to take care of themselves and their families going to turn to? By default... they'll resort to crime. I know I could ride out an economic SHTF... but I need to be able to protect myself and my property from all those who arnt able to. Only thing Im missing right now is a good diesel generator....

I think the most likely course would be something similar to what happened in the movie Red Dawn.

Or Resident Evil 3 of course. OMGWTFZOMBIESHIT!

Don't spend much time dwelling on shtf scenarios. Having said that, short of nuclear armageddon, if shit did hit the fan, unless invited, it would be a very wise decision not to come up to my neck of the woods.

The backwoods folk up here don't take to kindly to strangers as it is.

One of the biggest things I think most STHF scenario type people are lacking is medical attention.

Most of us are learning how to be self supportive. BUT ! What happens in a Katrina like situation when youhave plenty of food, supplies, safe place to stay and your kid or s.o. breaks and arm or gets cut when they fall using their new fangled survival knife!

Hospital is inaccessible sue to weather/floods/zombie flu etc.

Can you sew them up??
