OK why can't I get this #$@&$ transfer case to $%#*ing stop leaking all over the place!

New front and rear output seals. But it still PUKES out the front output and a drip or two out of the rear. ARGH!! What do I check next?

The vent is open and clear, the fluid is new, the seals are new, I think it leaks worse with the new seals than it did before....

thanks!

Chris

I had this problem with my 205 (as I'm sure many others have). what I ended up doing is finding a seal with a thinner housing flange ( the metal ring you press into place) and I put 2 on the output shaft, sealed it right up, no more leaks. maybe this will work with your app. maybe not, just an idea....

Check for grooves in the seal surface on the yolks, check for play on the front output bearing and in the bushing on the out put of the rear slip yolk, and last but not least make sure that you didn't knock the spring out of the inside of seal.

New seals, two seals, three seals, Navy seals, baby seals, none of them will make a difference if the seal surface of your yoke is worn. You may be ableto install a speedy sleeve over the yoke to provide a fresh clean seal surface for the front output, but the rear slip may need to be replaced.

a speedy sleeve huh?? and let's say a lacky at napa would know what that is? (Cause I don't ;) ) You wouldn't happen to know off hand what size?

I will have to try that. Thanks!

Size? It's not the size that matters, it's the........oh nevermind. Not off the top of my head, and maybe not at just any Napa. My local Napa has them, but they also have a machine shop and counter guys that can operate in terms like Dana 44, or 14-bolt, instead of What year? With power steering? A/C? Yeah, I know, I'm spoiled.

Most transmission shops should be able to get the right size, or tell you where to get them, and they might call them redi-sleeves, you'll need a size that will press on over your yokes seal surface, and you may need a different seal when you're done.
