Well working on a tight budget!
The Monster: 1979 Scout Traveler
The Current: aluminum diamond plate covered bed (with a lot of rust underneath), 2 inch Suspension Lift, 32 inch mud tires, pretty blue paintjob.
The Wish-list: Rip out the aluminum and put new bed in (making one) SOA conversion for 35 or 37 inch tires re-gear the axles, 2 inch body lift, possible new seats, custom bumper.

Here's the start of it and some shots of the bed and all the rust that I get to deal with!

The Next one is me cutting the front lip and square off so I can get better access to it! I'm completely cutting out the bed!

and here is a shot of the bed from the back! it doesn't look bad from a distance, but up close there's little rust holes everywhere, and instead of patching I'm just going to rebuild.

after cutting out a little more of the bed, I was thinking of leaving the little brace (well it kind of turned into a brace) but it was way to rusted out!

Restore and budget do not go together in any form, now go to binderplanet.com you will find people there that give ba shit about what your doing. This forum is for wheeling rigs and Scouts that will never be restored:shaking: Oh and buy the way good luck with the bed thing its never been done.

Your wish list should read Rocks, four link, 42" to 44" tires. Sounds to me like you are building a mall cruser more than a wheeler. READ the Board look around tell us how 35" to 37" will make your Scout stand out and why we think it is a wheeler:homer:

I gave up on the rebuild and went straight for the offroading part:flipoff2::flipoff2: you will find it is cheaper and hurts less when you dent it :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Thanks Chris and Levi1a, the Terra is done except for the final tweek on the doors and hood to get the body lines rite. I am happy with the way it turned out. I wound up putting new quarter panel splice, fenders, doors, hood, windshield frame, Terra top, and tailgate. All rust free so the Terra is 100% rust free, I have about 10 grand in it, it only has 95000 miles and runs like a top. Cool part is it is a Rallye that has all the options on and they all work. I am thinking it will be for sale to fund my other projects, BUT it is all done rite and will be spendy for someone to buy:smokin:Heres a shoot of the bed sprayed with Reflex bed liner and the top sprayed with the liner also.

Edit also thats only a part of the fleet:flipoff2:
