: Need any Pig parts?
helocat 09-22-2002, 11:22 PM Need any Pig parts?
Just closed a deal on my first pig. It is a 1977 FJ-55. This is cruiser #6 (overall of cruisers owned over the years, ya Butch I know I got a ways to go). I will only have it for a short time. I don't have any room to stuff this thing into, otherwise I would hang on to the frame for my home brew troopy. So here is the deal I am winching it on to the trailer backing it on to the drive and pulling the parts I am keeping:
axles
Brake booster
drive lines
4spd trany and T/C
Springs
Perhaps the 2F if I can trick it into starting
and the spare 72' 3spd T/C that has an over drive unit attached to it!!!
If you need any Pig parts let me know, they are yours before the crusher gets them. Hate to do it but I just cant store it, I will see if the Portland OR, Cruiser rescue mission wants what's left. (Over the Hill 4x4) I think they have four or five right now.. If they don't want it, it is off the crusher unless someone wants what is left. I only looked at it for less than three minutes, and only looked at the running gear. (You know, wife and 21 month old in the car and you spot a truck... hmm "I wonder if..") No pictures yet. If you need any interior parts, doors, hood, grill, other stuff let me know. It is yours for just the shipping cost, (from 97007) I am accepting beer $ donations too but not required. (unless it takes half the day to pull the part!! or I am not allowed to use the plasma torch to pull it off.) I just hate tossing anything Cruiser.
Once the parts are off I am dropping the frame and what's left on the trailer and off the steel yard. I need to get it off the drive ASAP, like in and out in less than two days. IF you want a part that I have listed I am keeping let me know, but I will save that for the For Sale area.
markha@safeco.com is the fastest way to get a hold of me.
Dibs on the mirrors and sun visors- if they're still there, and you're up to the task. Oh yeah, is there a rear heater??? :D

Zip, the outside mirrors were taged by David (Microfire) already, but the sun visors are yours. (If they are any good) I will be checking on the heater.
Update: the Portland OR, Cruiser rescue mission. (Over the Hill 4x4) is going to take in what is left. Still let me know if any felow Pirates need parts and I will get them out to you. (hay we all need a free part now and then!)

What about the front fenders, any good, upper/lower/left/right? And what about the rear window motor (fat chance, right)? And front seats?
Thanks,
YoungDogs 09-23-2002, 01:08 PM How 'bout the smog pump, injection rail and all the smog stuff?
Shipwreck 09-23-2002, 02:02 PM IF you want a part that I have listed I am keeping let me know, but I will save that for the For Sale area.
OK I have to ask. Rear springs? Are you planning to use them or are they going to the for sale board too. If you are planning to sell, pm me I'm interested. I also need a speedo cable. Any chance you can yank that too?

helocat 09-23-2002, 03:58 PM Fc187 I will check on the lights, W’ wanted the grill I think. I will check otherwise it is all yours.
MD11, the fenders have taken a few hits, funny thing is there is a brand new Toyota Right (I think) front fender sitting in the back. The sucker has the Toyota inventory sticker still on it and primer black. This I was planning on being capitalistic on, but for a fellow cruiser guy that has the opportunity to haul parts anywhere in the world… you get a deal. If you want it, make offer (PM me). Rear motor is spoken for by local guys; front seats are there but tore up. (rear too)
YoungDogs, The rig was “de smoged” Sorry
Shipwreck, yup the rear and front springs are the only parts I am keeping for myself. As for the Speedo cable, its yours if it comes out easy, if not it will come with the dash atached (torched off the rig…..)
Photos to come Wednesday. (Off tomorrow and no way to down load them at home) Now to go get the PIG!
SJPitts 09-23-2002, 04:45 PM These may have already been taken, but I would be interested in the interior rear view mirror and the little mounting bracket it attaches to. But the bracket is what the visors clip into, so Zipp may want it.
let me know
Jared

micah103 09-23-2002, 05:58 PM If you wouldn't mind, I'll take the front windshield and turn signals!! Don't worry about shipping hassles, I can pick it up.
P.S. What's your favorite beer?

Mark,
Be capitalistic with someone that is doing a full resto!! I was just looking for a cheap replacement if possible, before selling this 55!! Thanks for the consideration though!! I owe you one!!

cruiserbrett 09-24-2002, 12:19 PM Mark,
I am interested in the fender...Let me know what you would like for it?
Also, does the cruiser have A/C? I need underdash parts for the A/C and also I would be interested in door panels and floor mats(especially rear cargo area mat) if they are in good shape. I will be gone until Thursday night(out on a ship getting ready for the Persian gulf)
Thanks,
-Brett
I don't need the rear view- just the visors if you've got 'em. Any updates on the parting pig process?
Thanks-
Zipp :fj:
cornerman 09-24-2002, 05:23 PM i need the upper fendor apron on both sides (if not too rusty) and some other sheet metal if not too rusty.
do you have any pictures?
helocat 09-25-2002, 12:13 PM Well after some great effort we got the sucker picked up and hauled off. Brian Lingenfelter gave me a hand picking up the thing. By the time it was on the drive it was 9:00 PM, I think we shut down working on the thing around 12:30 AM. Brian owns a nice 72’ 55 so he was having fun spotting all the updates to the late 70’s pigs. It is all new to me since I never owned one. We filled up a box with parts distend for e-bay and another for the free parts people requested. (And one more for stuff Brian needed.. ”LOOK SHOULDER BELTS!”) Some of the stuff people ask for was damaged or involved more time than we had to pull. (It was late so no air tools or grinders, just the flame wrench.) I hauled the remains out to W’s shop yesterday AM, and will pull the rest (drive train and springs) out there.
Photo below:
SJpitts, Sorry it has one of those big ass five wink mirrors, no sign of the stock unit.
Micah103, the windshield is cracked, need driver side door glass? (this is out and sitting in the garage.) The front turn signals are in the stuff to e-bay box.
Fc187, Don I will check with W’ I was thinking about it being a nice garage wall thing…. Brian Ligenfelter who helped me pick up the pig suggested I keep it to attach to the front of my 40 so I can join 55 only runs. We pulled both of the tail lights and housings…. Not bad at all! (Hmmmm e-bay???) said they would be yours earlier so they are, just PM me with your address you got’em.
MD11, I GOT JACKED on the brand new fender. The guy pulled it from inside the rig before I picked it up. One of those “oh that was not included”…. Grrr oh well I still got a deal. The hood on the rig has rust through underneath by the latch. It would need quite a bit of work to use. Still an option for someone with out one. The upper fenders are there and not too bad. I will need to ask for some beer cash on pulling these. The front seat is yours out right if you want it, (four bolts and its out) keep in mind it is in need of new vinyl. (Sorry but the head rests went into the e-bay box already, if you need them you get them for cheep) The whole tailgate (working glass motor!) was packed off by Brain who helped me get the rig, and pull parts. Just send me your FedEx account number for the other stuff! PM me if you are interested in any particular part.
Cruiserbrett, Look at your PM, and the note to MD11 on the fender.
Zipp, It had sun visors….. Did I state the guy helping me get the rig also owns a 55? Brian any sun visors for Zipp? Hmmmm. Zip we will get them to you PM me with your address. You ask about the rear heater it is there but is in the e-bay box connected to all the hard lines.
Cornerman, Upper fender bibs, yup they are there, not to rusty, but still a bit rusty. We might need to talk some extra beer money on pulling these. PM me if you are still interested.
helocat 09-25-2002, 12:14 PM One more,

Guyute 09-25-2002, 01:37 PM Mark,
Zipp can have those visors. I also have the rear view mirror bracket. I'll bring them to the poker run Friday. I'm not giving up those shoulder belts or rear tailgate motor though :D Hehe
See ya,
Brian

Now imagine snarling dog sounds as you read this… “Grrrrr..snap, snap!”
Brian thanks again for your help Monday Night!
You missed out taking the brakeless thing off the trailer Tues! W’ and James where busy so I backed it up to where W’ wanted it. If I went an extra four feet it would have punched through black berry vines and dropped a good 50’ down to the rail road track! I put a safety chain off the back on the 55 to the trailer and used a 2x4 as a sliding wheal chalk…. Lets just say good thing the safety chain was there and I needed a new pair of shorts.
Guyute 09-25-2002, 03:14 PM It would have spruced up that park a little :D
I take it W didn't have a quick fix for the trailer winch, huh. You touched it last! :flipoff2:

Sorry you got jacked!! I'll take the upper fenders, where would you like your beer money sent, and how much can you drink????:D I'll PM you the account # and address later!!
I'm starting an 11 day trip tonight, then home for 3 days then a 10 day trip, so I'll pass on anything else, but thanks!!
