the guy i traded for it was a nice guy i think he let his kids do the paint but its still something i wouldnt run with. i plan on doing frame mounts, actually sheet metal floor no expanded, do a small bench in the back, reweld a b pillar back in and a brace behind the front seats too, do FJ40 hood and grill side panels roof adjustable steering column and detach steering wheel. FIX THE WIRING MESS but other then that  i really like it tho i can tell why people build these. they are really fun to drive.

started on pulling everything again and was getting a little depressed with the color so i changed it tell i cut it off and take it down to the sand blaster. it looks much better. pulled all the wiring out and figured everything out that is needed to me.

The smoke gray looks a little too much like primer gray (just shiny)...no offense meant: I have a primer gray 4Runner. I'd recommend some hammertone or maybe a metallic??

Those rims would look great powdercoated to match your chassis color. :smokin:

Did it have a t-case ebrake at one time?

Check out Hendrix' "Ultimate Formula Four" build thread--it was recently bumped to this top page. He really does nice work with his firewall sheet metal. If you're going to go with sheet metal floors/tunnel, look at that rig for inspiration. I used cardboard for mockups to get my floor/tunnel similar to his.

The steering wheel looks really high. (might suck if you're not really tall) If you can, try to tuck your steering shaft under your brake master cylinder, instead of over it, run your steering column through the center of the dash bar or under it. If master cylinder clearance is an issue, the 86-87 turbo trucks have a dual-diaphragm brake master that is smaller diameter than the standard dual-diaphragm v6 master...the 3rd gen 2wd trucks also have the smaller diameter double-diaphragm booster.

The stock clutch/brake pedal bracket on the firewall looks a little hokey--I used some tabs and the stock pedals shortened and (I think) cleaned that part up a bit.

I'm just pointing out some of the issues I had on my own build, and hoping to save you some of the head-scratching I did. If the suggestions offend you, just tell me to STFU and I will! :flipoff2:

no its totally fine with me. i really been thinking about how i want everything running and looking nice. i am 5' 5'' (short) the steering wheel will be fixed for me. my buddy is 6' 5'' and i let him drive my stuff so going to try to do a adjustable steering column. i looked through the comp legel rules and if i am wrong and thats not ok then i make it only for me. i want to go to some west coast comps but at the same time i am 19 and wanting to take this build fairly slow since i have another wheeler i not really in a rush.
i been looking through a lot of build threads little jealous :flipoff2: i doing everything outside in the rain cold but still have a :D

i thought the rim comment was a joke but i guess some people do like them. i going to do a lot of trail rides with it so going to go with steal bead locks and some sticky tires. i am in to this f-toy less then i am in to my tubing bender (JD2) so even though it is ugly i could sell the longs out of the axle and get all my money back :flipoff2:

As far as I know, an adjustable steering wheel isn't even addressed in the rules--and wouldn't be a comp advantage, so go for it. Both BlueTorch and Poly have some nice units.

I think it was Mustard Dog who recommended "point it at your neck" for optimum steering wheel placement.

If your buddy will be driving your rig (especially in comps), check out my build thread and Brian Ellinger's #44 build thread to see what you have to do to keep your chassis low and fit a tall guy inside!! (notch the frame and tilt the seat back). When you drive, have a 2nd set of mounting points so your seat can sit more vertical and forward--which I still need to do so my wife can drive my buggy.

since i have another wheeler i not really in a rush.

You will like having another wheeler so you don't get in a rush and half-ass stuff on your buggy. When you get bogged down on it, go wheelin' and remind yourself why you're building it.

Seriously consider getting a cheapo Costco carport tent for the project!!

this thing is alot ALOT of work to just pull it all back apart. i am making three times more work for myself but on the other hand saved more money then i could dream.

So...back to important stuff:

updates on the rig?
working on it this winter?
Replace the B-pillar bar yet?

Going to keep the aluminum rims? They'd work good with an aluminum inner beadlock and a steel ring outer beadlock. :smokin:

Going to add a twinstick?

Was there a t-case ebrake on there at one time? Going to try to rebuild that? Maybe Subaru calipers?

pictures of the t-case, tranny, drive lines, and muffler system out. its being a really slow updates. he built it with basically NO way to take the tranny out. i had to cut away at the fire wall and got two nice size pieces of metal in my eye (safety glass were on too) so it kind of slowed down. plus have another toyota and need to finish my four link and a couple harleys i am putting together, lots of projects no money tons of time
