i jsut got finished putting dual 44s in my jeep with 6 lug, I know i should have listened to the 60s 60s 60s comments but hey I am slow!!

any way what are some good donor vehicles to get a dana 60 with (the sticklers) semi floating and 6 lug? i need the 6 lug b/c I just bought a set of 6 lug bead locks and don't want to have to buy a new set up 8 lug. I also want it semi floating b/c it is easier (and cheaper) to have it shortened.

I am probably going to buy a set of moser 35 spline shafts.

I don't care on the width mainly b/c I am going to have it shortened to around 61.5" to match the front.

Umm....If you're getting it narrowed, who cares if it's semi-float or full-float, and who cares if it's six lug, you're getting new shafts anyway, just go get a garden variety 60, hack the ends off, sell the shafts, and narrow with whatever housnig ends you want, Ford 9" big bearing might be good. Or you could have full-floater hubs turned down and re-drilled for 6-lug

1) do a freaking search. This was literally covered like last week

2) just get the alloy shafts for your 44. how OLD were those shafts you twisted? 20 years? 30? get a 35 spline spool and be done with it.

GM used some SF 60's in 6-lug vehicles back in the 60's. They weren't standard issue though. Kind of one of those things that got thrown in when they were short on the "normal" rearend. But, as mentioned above, it really doesn't matter since you're hacking it up anyway.

the reason it matters was b/c I talked to moser engineering (where I am getting the shafts from) and they said they would shorten it but since I want 6 lug it HAS to be a semi-floating axle.

I just thouht about getting any dana 60 cutting the end off and putting 9" ends on it. then get the 35 spline shafts from moser and put 9" reatainers on it.

would that work?

a SF 14 bolt is IMO better then a SF 60, their both 6 luggers, GM put the SF 14 in 3/4 light duty pickups from like 80 somting to current
