: C6 Auto Questions
VERTIGO 09-23-2002, 10:35 AM This weekend i tried to go to the con in the scout, well didnt even get passed gatekeeper. i'm running a 460 with a C6 auto, 4.88's on 38's and i pulled to a big rock in the middle and kept giving it more gas and more gas, well no tire spin, wouldn't climb, wouldnt do anything. Slipping?, torque converter? anyone have any idea's, i changed the fluid and filter,1000 miles ago would this have caused the problem, i've heard if you change all fluid and filter on a tranny that has alot of miles, it messes with the gaskets, and after a little starts slipping. please some suggestions.
YELLER BLAZER 09-23-2002, 11:04 AM It is possible that the seals are leaking inside the trans and not making enough preasure to make the clutch packs apply, it could be the torque converter, it could have picked up some trash in the govenor and be stuck in high gear and hence no wheel spin, but it would down shift if manually pulled into low if this is the problem. It is very likely that its tranny time.
Sillyneck 09-23-2002, 11:40 AM I vote we just burn it down...then I don't have to deal w/ it anymore :D

VERTIGO 09-23-2002, 05:10 PM I really liked wheelin with the auto though, i think getting it rebuilt, maybe manual valve body, external cooler with electric fan, and i will be set. Then i dont have to do any conversion sh!t.... fast scout means happy scout....:flipoff2:

Check your bands, grab a service manual and test the pressure. Also hold the brakes, shift into drive and hammer the throttle, the tranny should be able to stall the engine.

You mean np 435 OR sm465. Either way who cares a manual is more dependable :D
Jeez Brenden what are you going to do if yo ever get to go to the con without problems. HEHE
Well at least your getting to wheel i am over here were the biggest tire is a 31" aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
Kinda thought that trany would give you problems ever since the day i say it come out of that truck. Kinda suprised it lasted this long.
I say rebuild it and wheel it. Mark at 1st gear or abba knows someone too. Besides if you geta manual you will have to set your  down to shift and shit.

DOH!! (hiding head in embarrasment) :emb3: How's ya doing Thomas???
Joe, he basically tried what you describe, but he did it against a rock. It just reved up but wouldn't go. Funny thing is the tranny fluid was clean, didn't smell and wasn't hot.
Abba, sorry we didn't make it back to Spider. Hope you had some fun though.
Oh, my hydro-assist is AWESOME. It was like driving a caddy through the Gate Keeper.
Scout Dude 09-23-2002, 10:10 PM I've seen that before...Too much weight (Scout II:flipoff2: ) + no Tranny Cooler (I'm guessing here) + let me guess again-NP205?+ 38's =:nuke:
You need lower gearing so you don't flash the converter.;)
