where would one buy a dana 60 jig?

sort of like this:

or would it just be better to make one?

but you'd be better off just paying someone to narrow your housing than buying the parts to do it yourself unless you plan
to get in the axle housing narrowing biz ....

If you have the equipment and time make your own thats what I did, or look up 66cjdean on this board he makes them also.

ps: look on ebay for large dia aluminum solids if making your own I've got some real cheap.

I would beinterested in knowing how you made your own. they look simple enough but that doesn't mean I would be able to figure it out.

if you get an extra minute would you expand on how you did it?

I will also PM 66cjdean and ask him.

thanks for the reply.

and the link above didn't work :(

You would have to make 4 bushings. The O.D. would have to be the size of the bearing/race +.000/-.002". The I.D. would be the size of the shaft you run through. I would go with a 1.25 or 1.5 inch shaft.

Mark Williams sells one its 430.00 I believe. I am with the guys on here you can make one for around 50.00 to 100.00 even if you have someone machine the pucks for ya if you need the dia. on the housing I think its 3.062 but ill check and your housing ends you will have to decide :D

For the pucks that go in to the carrier bearings they are $60 and for pucks for semi float ends like you show they are also $60 but for the full floater style jig that does 60's 70's and 14 bolt ends you are talking $200 http://www.respite.org/images/cj66dean/60jig3.jpg
Also you will need to get a bar for the jigs to go on and that will set you back about $150 also.
So it is much cheaper to just have one cut down for you like most everyone here has said. If you have a lathe then you have all you need to make some and save some $$$.

unfortanaly I don't have a lathe. it is on the list but admittily so far down the list.

I would be interested in buy a set of carrier pucks and SF dana 60 ends. if you don't want to make a set can you give me the size and I can get a machine shop around here to make some for me. either way I figure it will be about the same price.

if you have the sizes I will probably go back to my college and see if someone in the ME building can help an alum out.

thanks

Well what you need to get first is the bar because the pucks are made to fit the bar. If you use some sort of simple solid steel round stock then it should be 1.5 +- .010 but if you get some tool steel then it will be 1.515 +- .005. So I can make some but need to make them to fit the bar because if the ID is to large or to small then they are junk.
