: D2 info
whatroad 10-14-2009, 05:04 PM Has anyone here( not I know somebody BS) successfully disabled the ABS and TC on a D2? I remember reading a while ago that if you turn off the truck in low range with the diff lock on, and then restart the truck this way, both functions are off. I also read there is a certain wire(seriously) behind the glove box, that you can tap into and run a by-pass relay to a switch as to turn on/off at will.
Anyone? PT...?
Thanks in advance...... let's not get into the why BS.. my choice.
Kyle_T 10-14-2009, 05:10 PM unplug the modulator.
or look at the rave wiring harness and decide what wire you want to switch.
jymmiek 10-15-2009, 05:01 AM I'm not certain, but I think that you only have to have the diff lock on and shut the truck off, then restart it and the ABS is disabled. I don't think this will work on a 2004 Disco with factory diff lock though.
cptyarderho 10-15-2009, 06:47 AM I believe Jimmy is correct, but it has been a long time since I sold the DII.
Muddy Oval 10-15-2009, 06:56 AM True- A DII (other than 04) with CDL fitted will disable ABS/ETC/HDC when restarted with diff lock engaged.
whatroad 10-15-2009, 02:35 PM Yeah, thanks guys, but I already knew that. I'm trying to be able to keep my systems off all the time, and not have to turn truck off in diff lock, etc....
I know there's a way:) I'll find it..... Dana's don't like ABS/ETC....

PTSchram 10-15-2009, 08:57 PM It can be done through the software of the BCU. At least some of it can be.
A few years ago, there were some wiring shortcuts floating around that allowed for semi-permanent disabling of the ABS/ etc.
I don't know why another axle wouldn't like it, if you had the wheel speed sensors to support it, but if you don't have the wheel speed sensors, I think you might be better off looking at hydroboost or one of the many Corvette M/C and GMC pick-up boster swaps.
I re-read that and had to laugh as I hung one of my Salisburys beneath a '93 SWB. Clearly, I tied the rear brake pipes together and have no wheel speed sensors. So far, I don't have an ABS fault! Go figure, I remove most of it, disable some of it and I don't have faults!

Thanks PT. That's what I'm looking for. 60's don't have any wheel speed sensors:D

Tell me about it, I finally got one under the SWB, now to find someone who's serious about swapping the BRAND new rear Salisbury for a front Salisbury! I'm lazy and don't feel like cutting up the brackets I have to graft them to the front 60 I have, or to try to use the rear to make a front.
Once again, I went from none to five in no time!
