I have been doing alot of searching, and have not been able to come up with the answer for this yet...

I'm doing a D44 HP swap into a '97 Ranger and am going to do a hi-steer setup. At first I was thinking that I could easily get a set of chev knuckles, spindles, and brake calipers at the junk yard, but that's proving to be not true. There are however a ton of Dodge setups in pick-n-pull that wouldn't take much to pull off. I know that the dodge uses the big bearing spindles, which means you're stuck using dodge from the knuckle out....

If I was to pull the dodge knuckle, spindle, and brake caliper, and then turn down the spindle so it accepts the small bearing, would I be able to run the ford hub and brake disc like I would have been able to with the chev parts?

im kinda confused by all this... but im running dodge knuckles with chevy junk on them. theres a few issues with them. for one. the offset is a little narrower on them. so i ran into tie rod rubbing issues. second. you have to cut parts of them off cause the brake hardware holes doesnt allow the chevy backing plate to attach. third the studs to mount the spindle on are way to short. i just used the ones out of a 10bolt.

dont know if any of that helped but mine were off a 91 dodge ram. heres a picture. 10bolt on the left, dodge on the right after i hacked it all up to work

hard to tell in the picture but the chevy has like 1/4-1/2 inch more offset. also. i know you said your running ford stuff. the tie rod end hole on that dodge knuckle is pretty small. so snag the dodge tie rod ends too i had to re ream mine for the big chevy ones

Thanks for the info, but I found a set of Cage radius arms, and got selectable lockers front and rear for about 800 each....so hi-steer is out of the question for now. I'll use the Ford stuff with the Chev 1 ton Blazer TRE's over the arm for now and see how bad I damage stuff...LOL

All I really have to buy if I ever want to change to hi-steer later on is the hi-steer related parts and a new piece of DOM tubing for the drag link.
