I just wanted to get the word out to anyone who doesn't already know, about the trails workshop that is going to be held by Douglas County on October 5.
Douglas County has put out a notice that in summary says:
"Douglas County wants help from its residents in preparing a Comprehensive Trails Plan. This includes identifying the best locations for future walking, jogging and hiking trails, bridal paths, bicycle lanes & paths, mountain bike and off road vehicle trails."
"The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners recently authorized its staff to prepare a Comprehensive Trails Plan. A key element to this plan will be to ask hikers, bikers, equestrians, and off road vehicle enthusiasts to identify future trail heads and trail linkages. The October 5th Workshop will include introductory remarks from BLM and Forest Service officials and a Powerpoint presentation identifying trail constraints and opportunities.
Then the workshop participants will breakup into geographic sub groups to put their trail preferences on a map. By late afternoon everyone will reconvene to watch each area committee present its ideas for meaningful trails."
"Please direct questions or comments to Mimi Moss, Planning Manager or
Matthew Alexander, Senior Planner at (775)782-6213."
Further details:
Meeting Date - October 5, 2002
Meeting Time - 9am-5pm
Meeting Place - Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville
Ranchos
If you are unable to go and want to provide input, send comments to Mimi
Moss as suggested by Douglas County. I will be doing that.
I understand that the County will be having a follow-up workshop on this as
well.
Spread the word. Thanks.
