soooo... i blew a the short inner axle my 44. i'm running 38's, welded spiders front and rear, 5.38s. i guess its time for chromoly!! where is the best place to order warns and ctms? all i want to say is those stock shafts are WEAK. it was a joke. again, WEAK.

i wanted to see how strong those old stock shafts were, not very i guess.

it broke when i wasn't even on an obstacle. insult to injury.

just wondering did the welds go on the spider gears? why not run spools front and rear?

the welds are just fine. i'm not worried about the welds, everything else seems to be weaker. i still don't know if i'm going to keep these axles or not. i only have a few hundred in each of them so far even with the high steer, new 5.38s, new loaded cases, ect. as soon as i order the alloy shafts and such, i will probably be dedicated. i'm thinks i should have gone 60/14 bolt, but i finished these for way less than just a junkyard 60 front all rusty and nasty. i'm trying to keep it light.

if all the comp boys can keep there 44s together, damn it, so can I!

for the warn's drivetrain warehouse (http://www.drivetrainwarehouse.com/) seems to be the best. For the CTMs, you can buy direct or a few places local to you carry them. I have a set in stock - pm me if your interested.

im getting ready to weld up my spider gears on my d60..
could you tell me what you used "mig or arc" and how did you do it... i was told i could heat up the carrier and weld the spider gears with a mig.. what other ways can you do it?

Holy did not search batman

Do a search, you'll find 2 camps, one that says weld to the carrier, one that says don't. Personally I welded just the spiders, cause I felt the 60 R+P has enough mass to allow it to work. If it was a 44 I'd fill the carrier.

I welded everything in there together except the shafts! :flipoff2: No 60s though.... I used a battery powered Ready Welder.

i've been to lazy and busy to pull the shaft yet. i just unlocked the hub and finished my day. we broke a ttb 28 short side inner within about 30 minutes of my shaft as well. his put up a better fight than my 44 though.

funny to say, but i think my rig was more capable on 33's locked front and rear than 38s with only 3 tires pulling. says alot for that front locker.

i agree aaron, keep it light, shave the weight from the vehicle, mine have survived.
