Im gathering parts to build my trazer.

Chassis, 85 blazer chassis, stock height, I plan for a 6" lift
Axles, 3/4 ton axles, 10b/14b 3.73 gears
Engine, 300hp Chevy 350.
Trans, SM420

this is what I have so far.

My question is what are my Transfer case options for this transmission. I don't mind using a NP203 or a NP208, but none of those were ever used with this transmission. I know I could used a divorced unit, but how rare are the divorced 203's for a chevy?

I will do some minor rock crawling, and mudding.

Just get an sm465 and you can run 203,208,205, with factory adapters. 208s versions are 32 spline input (465 is 32 spline output). And you could probably use the 208 adapter for other later cases. There is no real advantage to the 420 in my mind, besides a little lower first gear. But I have never driven one either.

Or look at advanced adapters site or novak and see what they make adapter wise.

the SM420 is no longer in use now, I picked up a good SM465/NP203 combo for $170 locally today. I could'nt pass it up.

Sweet, good find. I traded a guy on craigslist for a th350/203 i had. It was supposed to be an sm465/205 but when I saw it was a 203 I just had to buy a doubler too. :shaking:
