Have you have seen that written on paper that you got from 4wpw?
On the last tire i went trhough, 4wpw said that, i said where does it say that?
They produced no evdiance, and i bitched and moaned into a warrenty tire.
They took 4 weeks to get the tire, and in that time i called my credit card company and had the charged resversed, and 250$ back in my account.
I plan on going through the same process on this tire as well.
I took the money and bought the tire elsewhere,

Do you put many road miles on them? I'm getting ready to pick up a set from someone that had the same problem with his tires. He took the ones that seperated back and is giving me a screaming deal on the ones that are left. He said it's from heat and road time on the tires, any truth to that? I don't drive my junk on the road except to get to the trailhead, but I'm just wondering what I'm in for. I've never had SX's and can't wait until I start hearing this shit.

Easy

I used to have SXs on my DD TJ, no problems out of them other then less then optimal wear but what else can you expect.

Easy

I have been driving SX's on the street for 5 years now with no problems. So I don't think that is the problem.

I think the main problem is if you groove them to much they tend to flex more then what they were suppose to so they end up coming apart.

That sucks Mark. Maybe try giving my brother a call at 4WPW here in Sac. He goes by JW. He might be able to help you out.

Probably resulted from that fish-tailing, ass-weaving rollover you had on highway 50. You're lucky you still had wheels after that... Go 'Flat-tow'... :D:D (Glad ya'll didn't get hurt there) Please be more careful. I hate going to funerals... :(

Are you running enough air pressure on the road? Most separations are due to low air pressur eand the heat build-up that occurs due to low air pressure.

Too much heat is the main problem with tread seperation, especially on nylon's since its very hard to actually break the cords as appossed to running a radial at low pressure and snapping the small steal belts.

Like others said, low pressure and excessive speed. Overloading is another problem but I don't think that is the issue here...

Different brand/size/type tire, but my ol' man had this happen on his old Ford. A lot. 28 free tires worth. He was running 60-80 psi in 'em, too. Always seemed to happen in summer and probably related to high speed - although you'd think they should handle a steady 70-80. After that many warranty replacements he just gave up and bought a different brand - it never happened after that. Don't mean to imply anything bad about Interco or the SX's, but it may be a similar problem.

How fast have you been going?

WTF tire takes 60-80 PSI??

Most load range D or E tires. Those were 9.5x16.5's. Since he's posted 38 SX's look at the Interco site - the E-rated 38-12.5x16.5's take 75 psi. That 9.5x16.5 size seemed to be particularly bad - saw it happen to Goodyears, Michelins, BF Goodrich, etc; just never as often as those he got stuck with.

LOL i never saw it, and the 3 managers at 4wpw could not find it either

I run like 18-20PSI in the tires, IMO its just the right PSI

ha! yeah, there was nothing else i could do, If i had a trailer i still would of plowed someone down, it was the person way ahread of me who slamed there to stop short that screw me.
I think the roll may of knocked one of the luggs off, maybe, but the sepration had nothing to do with it

although that pressure may be just right for the contact patch on your rig, it is probably too low to adaquately cool the tire when running down the road, either towed or driven.
Most of the time ittakes a few trips to start the sepaation, and then it just gets worse.

So that's on your truck that you flat tow? Just trying to follow the process that creates that problem. I was contemplating grooving my sx's as well. I have a weird white band through my tire now after a 150 mile day trip with 8psi. Hmmm

My brothers 38 TSL's have the same thing. They are on a heavy F250. I thought it was the start of the tread seperating but they have not done what Mark's did YET. It started when I was driving it to work everyday on the interstate. I checked the pressure and contact patch and it all was OK.

i always ran my 38's at 8-10psi unless i was on my way to fordyce or the con, then i ran 20-25psi. never had any problems, course i never ran faster than 60mph. just my experience :D

all i can say is no tire is perfect.
