Got a new toy for the shop today.:smokin:
I don't know much about it and wanted to see what you guys thought. It came out of my Dads cabinets Shop but I figured it would work just fine with a good metal blade for my new shop.
If you guys have any info let me know. The price was right so I just couldn't pass it up.:smokin:

So do you have a way to slow down the blade?
Might ruin alot of good blades if you are spinning to fast.

I was thinking the same thing its been a few years since I saw it run. I thought of maybe trying to control the speed with some sort of voltage regulator. other then that I am not sure there was a pallet in front of it so I couldn't open the door to see the lower drive assembly. It does have an external motor though so i think its has the option to have variable speeds. I just have to get it to the shop and play with it.

Its not just the blade that makes it a wood saw... the blade guides, blade speed, etc... for light metals it will be fine, but anything heavy will stress the blade due to the lack of heavy guides...
good luck, hope it works out great for you. i want a vertical saw so bad... i think about it every day when i use my portaband...
I want to fine a nice Dake or DoAll.

I will have a 4'X8' Torchmate so for the most part it will be for sheet metal and aluminum, maybe some fine tuning on the plate that comes off the table if needed. It will also be used it for cutting tube at angles that the chop saw will not do. I will work with it and just learn its limits. it is definately a must have for any fabrication. I have a feeling it will be used alot. I think it is plenty Heavy Duty for what I will use it for. thanks for the replies so far guys.

it defintly needs to be gear'd down first and yes the guides need to be changed or reinforced.search around here beccause there were a few write ups about a few months ago with alot of good info.
you can't beat free, but if you look on ebay, there are always huge industrial ones for sale really cheap, like 26" doall's for like a grand. those were about 8 to 10 thousand new.cpmpanys don't care, they just want them gone.

you can speed the blade down with a controller (expensive i think), or gearing it down with a gear box/jack shaft, or a belt/pulley system. we bought one much like that where i used to work to cut metal, it ended up a giant paperweight....

Huh. Ok I will look at th guides and take some pics today. I try and remove that pallet so I can take a look at the lower drive assembly. I will search for those threads. Thanks

OR you could sell that fucker for X and go buy a bigger one like the one we first looked at. Just a thought, might save some headache time trying to make this one perform like one we could just buy and maybe even come close to even $.
