Hi guys! I need some help with an hydro assist installation. I've searched alot, read alot and looked at alot of pics in threads but could'nt find the answer I was looking for.

It's an dana 60 axle and I need to know if I can bolt the cylinder with tie rod ends to the steering stabilizer bracket and bolt hole in the tie rod, or is this a bad idea? Will it work or doe's it need to be bolted in the middle of the tie rod? I would weld own brackets on to the tie rod, but it's not allowed in Finland and due to the car inspection we have once a year it's a really bad idea. We can't touch the tie rod if we wan't to keep it leagal on the road so...

here's a pick so you know how I mean

If it won't work to bolt the cylinder there or if it will break or won't hold, could this be an option to get it bolted to the tie rod, or will it just start slipping?

It doesn't have to attach to the center of the tie rod as long as it attaches to the tie rod.

Yes, people have successfully clamped to the tie rod, but they used beefier clamps than the u-bolts you posted.

Look on ballistic tabs site, the have a clamp for 1.5" Dom tubing. I use their clamp currently on my 60 underneath my red truck. It works out great and has never slipped. Make sure when setting up your ram you have enough ram so it is not the limmiting agent in your steering. And no I would not run a hydro cylinder there on the stock axle mount

I had mine mounted like that for a little while. The bolt in the tie rod ended up bending and came out, the tie rod also bent so I replaced it with 1.5 dom. I used the poly performance clamp but it always slips, I am just going to weld the tabs on now.

Use the stock tie rod for inspection and a real one for wheeling :smokin:

What about setting up the hydro cylinder on the back side and put a highsteer arm in and drive it there? Or setup for highsteer and pull it off slap on your stock arm when inspection comes.

two tie rods would be an idea, I thought about that too but I don't wan't to get another tie rod due to lack of cash and also I don't wan't to change the system on and on, I already change tires and convert engine to non-turbo :shaking:

I think I will go with the camlp, it seems to be cheapest and easiest way. I just got to find a company that ships to Finland or figure out a way to make a clamp myself. Ideas?
