Belooky 10-24-2009, 05:39 PM All I can say for sure is it came off a 1985 truck or maybe bronco. Im gonna guess maybe 351. I cant remember if the truck 302's use twin throttle bodies or not
f250rollinon37s 10-24-2009, 07:14 PM its a 302 /5.0
the lower intake in narrow and had the egr port in it
the 351 /5.8 is wider and has the egr in the manifold
both have twin t bodys
mikepotts 10-24-2009, 07:30 PM that is a truck 5.0 intake... 100% sure. the 5.8 intakes had funky looking oval ports.
as a plus, the lower intake is worth a little money to the right person since it has the same port configuration as the vortech and holley systemax intakes for mustangs.
ive known some hardcore mustangs shops that would use the lower manifold, cut the lower flange from the upper manifold and use it to tig weld their own sheetmetal upper intakes...

Why are you saying '85? Because of the casting number?
That doesn't mean that is the only year it came off of...

I believe the 5.8 lowers had ports that match the mustang uppers, correct?

Been there, done that. I've got a buddy running one on his turbo 302.
Totalled 10-24-2009, 08:28 PM This is the truck 5.8 lower.

Huh, I could have sworn I have seen a 5.8 truck lower that looked like the mustang ones. Guess you learn something new every day.

actually no, there is an early bronco place that makes adapters so the EB guys can put an efi windsor in their EB's with the windsor lower and a stock mustang upper... i dont know why with all the other options out there... seems kind of stupid to me, but oh well.
mikepotts 10-24-2009, 08:57 PM it took me a few minutes to find it but here is a link to the people responsible for this insanity... (insane but i guess it works)
you will have to scroll down a bit...

It's way cheaper than buying a new aftermarket intake or a used lightning setup..
Uppers or lowers are $19.99 from my local yard...

so, $40.00 in manifolds and $100.00 in the adapter... just a little more and a good quality used intake can be had... i guess it would be okay, just not for me.
FlexyTJ 10-25-2009, 10:45 AM guys- great posts! :smokin: I think that at least gives me some direction. Thanks again for the input, it is much appreciated.
shdybrady19 10-25-2009, 12:30 PM my 1988 bronco had the square ports. The intake is really restrictive for to feed the 5.8. As Being because the deck is taller on the 5.8. But it flows really well for the 5.0. Some aftermarket intakes are still based off the 5.0 design. Stop over at fullsizebronco and you might get a bit more direct information for these year models
shdybrady19 10-25-2009, 12:30 PM the intake in the picture looks more like a gt40 intake

Round runners on a GT40 vs rectangularish runners on the 5.0 truck intake? Ya looks totally like a GT40 intake. :shaking:
shdybrady19 10-25-2009, 02:58 PM I was talking about the one totaled posted.:shaking:

Oh now i see it, oval straight ports vs, round staggered. Very similar.
FlexyTJ 10-25-2009, 03:25 PM Wish it was a GT-40 LOL, would actually be worth something  GT-40's I believe would have offset/staggered runners as well.... This is a better bic of the oval ports...

That's the one I was thinking of! I couldn't remember for the life of me what the application was though.
boogerp 10-26-2009, 12:05 PM Definitely a 5.0 truck upper and lower, probably 85-90 model. Casting got changed sometime in 90 or 91 and it said 5.0 EFI. Kinda dumbfounded that the5.8 got fucked in the intake dept. with the piss ant ports that choke it....
Totalled 10-26-2009, 12:56 PM Typical ford... :shaking: between that and the 8.5:1 compression ratio it's no wonder why the 351s didn't make the power they should have...

they were after torque numbers... that is why they had the cross sectionally small, long runners, the lower manifold didnt look like the runners were long, but look at the upper, the actual flow path of the upper runners were a mile long!
