: Probably a long shot, but does anyone remember?
weigellj 09-24-2002, 02:18 PM Anyone by chance remember the guy from wisconsin that said he knew of like 4 cruisers sitting in a old guys yard for sale about 1 year ago. I thought it was by racine or kennosha. I did a search and cannot find it. I was wondering if he bought them or if they are still there.... or if anyone knew his email.
Also anyone know of any cruisers sitting around the WI area that are just rusting away waiting for someone to buy them :D
I need another project for this winter.
woody 09-25-2002, 05:17 AM remember the guy...he called me a few times....kept saying he'd let me know when he bought them and we'd talk parts and such...
nuthin....
How BIG a project you looking for?? I seem to come across stuff for sale pretty regularly....some workable, some just plain junk...
(looking at one in Stevens Point soon...been behind a bar there for 8 years...heh heh)
weigellj 09-25-2002, 07:08 AM Projects....
Like usuall, BIG :D
Actually I want to build a buggy type cruiser. All I would really need is a tub/Frame to start off with. As long as the Tub wasn't too bad off, I would Imagine most of the metal would get cut off.
Would Also like to build a Occasional driver, either fj-40 or fj-55
I guess in general, I just wanna build another cruiser. There is an FJ-40 here in one bone yard. Decent shape, but the owners are pricks and think everything is worth its weight in gold. Found a FJ-55 in another yard, but the back end is really really rough.
Oh, and the most important part.... :D
As little cash spent on startup as possible
woody 09-25-2002, 08:22 AM I've got a 72 tub in rough shape...workable, but rough. Includes complete tub, hacked/rotted frame, no title (optional for a buggy anyways), hood, fenders, bib, and other misc stuff that I need to get stripped soon.
Entire drivetrain is either gone or spoken for. Frame might be savable....but I wouldn't....front section from rad to t-case area is ok, balance is "squeezable"....heh
$100? I strip, you pick up?
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 10:33 AM It's not Wisconsin but there are two guys I know about in the "somewhat near" area that can maybe be of service. Both of them have been "cleaning out their yards" lately but maybe they can help. Andy Lit is about an hour north west of Chicago and there is guy on the Illinios/Iowa border who has lots of cool diesel stuff and numerous cruisers lying around their yards. I can get you both of their emails if you hit me up back channel andre@collegeinternetsolutions.com
Later!
woody 09-25-2002, 10:49 AM Andy is always cleaning out his yard...but from what little I know of his hoard, it's not always the most affordable....tho deals can be had. He's definitely got the $$ to spend on stuff.
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 11:10 AM Yeah that's the problem with most of us. I think because we're at least slightly edjumacated about cruisers we sometime know what stuff is worth - of course it depends on the person entirely. But whoever got that FJ45 he had on Ebay definetly lucked out! I think the body went for $400??!!! I guess the deals come and they go. Last time I talked to Andy I was looking for an F motor and of course those go cheap. Haven't dealt with him too much otherwise.
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 11:22 AM PS - I have a couple of things for sale as I'm cleaning out my my place to move into bigger and better house...!
1) Crane Cams X700 electronic ignition "points replacement system" - Only used about 2 weeks as I yanked it thinking there was a problem with it but it turned out to be the carb. Installed in a 75 distributor, good to go, complete with hold down assembly, $70 (new from Specter $130 for just the unit without the dizzy!)
3) FJ60 carb, good visible condition, $20?
3) and shoot, can't remember the other stuff. I guess I'll edit this later..
weigellj 09-25-2002, 02:28 PM Dieselcruiserhead, I sent you a PM.
Woody
So what would I get for $100 and when would you need it picked up by?
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 02:39 PM Hey, didn't get it. Shoot me an email, andre@collegeinternetsolutions.com
weigellj 09-25-2002, 02:46 PM Andre
It should be there, Just thanked ya for the email address's. Thanks Again.
woody 09-26-2002, 05:17 AM 72 tub, complete with all metal/rust, gauges, tunnel. No seats (tho I'd toss in some 77ish buckets if you wanted them). Hood, front bib, fenders, side skirts. Frame is missing passenger front horn and is "squeezable" by the rear solid mount spring hangers. Can include fuel tank if needed.
No springs, no axles, no motor, no tranny, no t-case. No title. No cage. No top or doors. No windshield.
In other words, a perfect buggy starter, but not much else....lol
weigellj 09-26-2002, 10:50 AM Woody
Sounds like exactly what I am looking for :D
I would take ya up on the seats and the tank, not sure If I would use them, but what the heck... why not... If I end up doing nothingwith it, I guess there is worse things in my life I have spent $100 on...
So when are ya gonna have this thing parted out?
I am tossing up the Idea of building a scout....
I found a travelall and a scout 80 ( I think that is what it is) for $75 bucks. The 80 has a 4cyl (not sure if it runs) and the travelall has the v8 (that runs), dana 44 axles... Thinking combine the two and make a wheeler out of them.
woody 09-26-2002, 10:58 AM well, it's been "stored" in a friends field for 3 years...just saw him 2 weeks ago...I do owe him 3 cases of Coors Light, one for each year....how about sometime early Dec?!?

Hmm.. 1972 rig.... hmm no need for smog in most states...hmmm I would bet a case of beer that the original "official" rig is alive and well some where! Funny how those early 70’s left frame horns have the opportunity for a long life!
weigellj 09-27-2002, 08:46 AM Woody
Sounds like a plan, I guess shoot me a mail or bring the topic back to the top when ya get closer, to getting it parted out.
:D
SMOG.... What is that ;)
