This can get moved to noob if need be.
So the rear of my Blazer has a 14 bolt and the pinion points at the T-case output. So after reading the drive shaft tech article on here, that says get a CV shaft made. Fair enough.
But the front is where I have questions. Most older Chevys came with CV front drive lines. My Blazer is lifted somewhere between 6 and 7 inches. The pinion does not point at the t case output and without completely f-ing up the caster angle that is the way it is.
What do I do for the front? just run a CV still? Seems like that's what everyone else does (i think), but it goes against the tech right? If I get a regular old drive line, I think I will have to modify the x-member to make it work. That is fine I guess?.?. What does everyone else do?

does not matter for off road
you'll never be able to tell since you arent going faster than 10 - 15 mph

you typicaly arent going very fast in 4wd, BUT awd 203 cvs are designed to spin 100% and they dont like any lift, at all.
most people dont worry about it.

You just had to add in that a np203 drive shaft won't work. Really classy. Wonder if since I am getting a cv for the rear if I can just use the rear... Guess we will see. Anyway. Thanks for the advice.

I have a nice long slip cv in the front of mine and no cv in the rear. Like stated above, the rear spins all of the time so the non cv is a better option for a street driven rig. Mine doesn't see much onroad but we do drive it to trails on the freeway sometimes. My front doesn't spin at all unless I have the hubs locked and it is in 4WD. The cv pushes the shaft out far enough so I didn't need to modify my crossmember yet. We will see once I go to the 63/54 spring combo.

Wait so even though my rear end is setup for a cv (just how it ended up), I shouldn't do one if I drive it on the street? What is wrong with doing that?

glenns89 i think youre somewhat confused or worded your shit wrong.btw no shit the rear spins all of the time :homer:..... many applications dont require a cv to be functional in my experience but blazers are a diff story unless you have the 465 205 combo . i know plenty of people that lifted the piss out of their trucks and their only option for the rear was a cv. ive been daily driving my blazer with a cv rear no cv front for the last 2 years. and in my truck i just finished building i have no cv's at all and ive got 8 inches of lift up front. tom woods makes good u joints:smokin:

you can cut the cv section out of an old driveshaft and with alot of die grinding get about 28 degrees out of a stock drive shaft. you just eliminate the cv and replace it with 1 ujoint. *might need to weld the u joint in.
thats the cheap way

I am going to talk with them on thurs. Off again offroad is the name I believe. I called the other day and he said to bring what I had for driveshafts and take some measurements and they would figure out the best way to do it for me.
Seemed like nice guys.
