Friends of Eldorado National Forest will be having their final work party for the year on Saturday November 7th.

For this event we are going to work with Jay Dobler and CNSA (California Nevada Snowmobile Association) as well as Mike Stroude of the Forest Service. The goal will be to clear brush, small trees, logs, rocks and any other items from the trail that present problems for not only snowmobile travel but also for vehicles. This will be on the Amador District of the Eldorado National Forest just off highway 88. Most of our projects to date have been in the Placerville District so it is good to help out the other areas of this forest as well as help out other forms of motorized travel.

We will meet at 9am at the Caltrans Station at Peddler Hill on Highway 88. We really could use a good group on this project (15 people). The days are getting shorter and colder so we wont have a lot of time to do the work, this will also be weather dependent. If we have snow we will have to put it off (and play in the snow), the more people we have the better!

If you can attend, just drop us a reply and we will get you all the information you need.

Just wondering. My son needs 40 hours of volunteer service to graduate from HS. We attended a FOTR work weekend and he received hours. Would the same apply here?
Thanks

I am sure they would.
The work we do is approved by the Forest Service, so the volunteer work is actually being done for them.
All I would need to know is what does his school need to show he worked the hours.

Rick

And as far as the Forest Service is concerned, travel time is counted as volunteer hours, up to the amount of actual hours worked.
if you travel 2 hours each way and work 4 hours. thats 8 hours of volunteer time

Thanks for getting back to me. I have the form he needs filled out for hours worked and a signature of someone in charge.

We are going to try and make it from S.J. Sat AM. He has a football game Friday night. I'll get back and update!

That wont be a problem. We will be meeting right at the caltans yard at Peddler Hill and wont be traveling far from there and you can get a ride with someone if it is even needed

Several of us that are comming from the Pollock Pines area will be meeting at the information station at 8:15am on Iron Mountain Road, about 2.5 miles up from Sly Park Road. Weather should be cool and partly cloudy.

Hope to see you Saturday morning.
